The morning bite has been a bit sporadic (another word for tough) a couple of days this week, but I also ran afternoon trips on Thursday & Friday and had AWESOME days with easy limits and Keeper Hybrids thrown in for good measure! All fish on Slabs in 20'-30' water. This morning (4th of July) after a slow start, the Topwater bite kicked in on the Old 287 Roadbed for about an hour. Quality Sandies in with the Schoolies. Then....the Wind kicked in gear and ran us off the big lake around 9am. Better to be lucky than smart, we found Hybrids off the Dam Levy in 20' water and fished protected water with no one around for 2 hours. Lots of 16" Hybrids , but kept 3 over 5 lbs. for the Customers fish fry.

Very quiet on RC for a Holiday weekend. Not more than 10 trailers at the Marina.

Adam has a couple of days open latter part of next week and we have a boat open next Saturday. Give us a call and Let's go Catchin'!

theres an awful stump, I think it is a concrete pillar, just inches under the water there, about a hundred out from the bank. Is there anything we can do to get a bouy put there so people dont hit it. It is probably te mose dangerous stump I have eer seen in a lake

Tie a gallon jug to it and wright STUMP on it most people avoid jugs and those that dont get what they deserve. I wash out my oil jugs and keep a couple in the boat just for that reason, works for me

why cant we get a bouy placed permanently placed there. I know the stump is there so I'm not gonna hit it, but i'd like to save someone else from hitting it. Seems like a jug would be a temporary solution. Bouy would be a permenant.

Contact the lake manager or army corp of engineers overseeing the lake. they got bouys stacked somewhere for lake use. sounds like stump from hell.

RC was built by the Tarrant Regional Water District for one purpose....Selling Water. The TRWD has no interest in Water Sports, Recreation, Fishing, etc. and there is no 'Lake Manager'. Unlike a Corp Lake, there are no manmade boat lanes or safety features.

Homeowners are finding out the hard way that the 'constant water level' some were led to believe would allow their boat houses to be accessable year round is not correct. The lake is down a little over 3' and now dropping around 6" a week. Gonna be a tough Summer if we don't get a Tropical Storm or Hurricane on the Coast to drop some rain on us. The lower water level doesn't effect the fishing....actually narrows down the amount of water you have to find them in. smile

I idea of marking the stump with a jug is a good one and may save someone a lower unit. Good Luck and be careful as the tops of trees out in the 40' water will soon begin to appear.

I usually only get to fish out there a couple of weekends a month and have had good luck the last month or so, until the 4th. Went out early and those whites/hybrids made me feel pretty stupid. I burned two tanks of fuel and about beat myself to death on that rough water with very little to show for it. In fact I think I ended up with more blue cats than I did whites or hybrids. Glad to hear somebody caught some.

I took three young-uns out July 2. Caught one limit mid-morning 'til noon. Just as many 16" hybrids mixed in. Kids had a blast. Fish seemed to be making big circles near holding areas. Of course it was calm and no current to move bait. But that was ok with the kiddos. They would drive the boat until we found fish. Catch a couple, then move on.
