Great slabbing video John. Usually when the fish are in the summer pattern I have more luck burning the slab or slab/fly combo. Also, I've noticed that some slabs don't work as well as others when burned. For instance I haven't had much luck burning the Thrifty slab from Moe's. I think that may be more of a flutter slab. Anyone else seeing the same?

I like it! Great videos!! The guy on the video sure looks and sounds like the John Varner that I know grin If any of you guys get a chance to fish with Varner its a wonderful treat! John Varner is the best slab fisherman I ever fish with! thumb Like pulling fish out of a stocked pond.

Had good friends Steve Bradbury and Ruben fish with me on the hot Hubbard. Steve use to be a mod here on the TFF and is way to busy to even fish now a days laugh We started out a 6:30am dropped Ruben off at 10:00am and finished at 11:30am. Steve wanted to keep some fish for a fry so that is what we did. Found fish all over the place and for a Thursday it was pretty busy. Did another little video for everybody. Mostly fun but do show how to clean whites at the end. All fish caught on SSS slabs and fiestas from Moes and various top waters in 22-35 ft water. Winds were 0-5 mph and water temp was 88 degrees.

Had first time guest and 3 generations in the boat today laugh Paul and sons Luke and John then grandfather Gary. When I arrived at the marina it was a whos who of Hubbard.. You would have thought it was a day before a holiday grin I seen everybody heading south so I went north laugh We wanted about 10 minutes then the surface activity started and stayed up 3 hours. Now, I should have went south for the hybrids but we caught some huge whites on top water and the kids really enjoyed that, Got a call about hybrids and asked the dad if he wanted to go . He looked at me and said are you kidding , look at all these fish ok, stay we will. We had it pretty thin for an hour or so then the other boats showed up. Great day for the kids and they could not believe all the fish I love having kids on the boat laugh Paul pulled out the fly rod and caught whites that away also. They kept a few for dinner but released the rest. At 10:00 am Paul said they were ready to go eat so off we went. All fish caught on SSS slabs from Moes , various top waters and TNT 180s in 25-32 ft water. Winds were nice today 8-12 mph just enough to help with a breeze and water temps were 88 degrees.

Good to hear you were on some good fish!

I think I encountered you and your crew taking out at Chandlers around 10:30am or so. Texas Rigged and I were taking out there as well. We were in the omg-this-is-much-too-fast-for-any-normal-human-being-please-Jesus-don't-let-me-die Stroker bass boat... the one with the big Yamaha and the flames on the side flame.

We chased some spotty schools of whites around and managed to put a few in the cooler. They just never seemed to really solidly school anywhere south. We hit the jetty/peanut, red barn and iron horse and never really got into them heavy. Still mucho thanks to David "Texas Rigged" other wise I would have been shore-stranded as it was too choppy to risk the canoe today eeks

Anyhoo... tight lines and y'all be safe out there amongst the crazies.
