Hi all, I am not sure if the method that I use for tying lures is the right one.
I usually set them up for quick changes by using a small swivel snap. I would then tie a palomar knot to the lure with 3 to 5 inches and end with a surgeons loop. This way, I can do some quick changes and still keep the lure "acting" like it is supposed to.
Is this a good method or would it be better to just cut and tie new knots by going straight to the main line?

Thanks guys, I guess the cut and retie method removes any possibilities for problems.

I agree with krypto, I use the Rapala knot for crankbaits. Palomar for everything else.

Some people say that the palomar, or any other knot that ties tightly onto the eye of crankbait gives it an unnatural action and makes it too jerky. The rapala knot ties it securely, but makes a small loop around eye that gives it a more realistic action.

All right, I went fishing today. Didn't catch anything but had a good time. I cut and retied all my knots (palomar) and so far no problems. I got used to it and am feeling more comfortable regarding line twist issues; Didn't have any. I was using some spinners and jigs.
I got a nice smallmouth on Friday but today was bad. No nibbles or hits. This was in Capp Smith park in Watauga.
I may go to the Colleyville Nature Center tomorrow or Tuesday. It has been a while. Maybe I'll catch something, lol.

It is a sunfish.
The Largemouth Bass.
The most fished for fish in Texas.

Palomar for plastics and jigs, loop knot for crankbaits, improved cinch for spinners.
Bowfishing sucks

"IF" you cut/re-tie on a regular basis - as you should, quick-change terminal tackle doesn't really make a lot of sense.
It's not what a man knows that bothers me. It's what a man "KNOWS" that ain't necessairly so that has me conserned.
