You like a toon better than that deckboat? My deck boat is only 16ft, so 3 people fishing is about max. It's great for what I use it for, but with a toon I could take more people out fishing or just for fun (tubes and such).

those rainstorms are hard to run from when your only going about 2.4mph.
Fixed. You had the decimal in the wrong place Ray. hahaha that's just not right.

Wish I could se 24mph on mine, with three aboard and the gear, I can ocasionally see 20mph. She carries a Johnson 88special. That is one of the drawbacks to the toons. If you are having to travel 10 to 20 miles to a fishing hole its sure slow getting there. We usually trailer to a nearer ramp if available.

There is one on Tawakoni,at Marina Del Ray, that has a 225 Evinrude on it. Never seen it run,but I bet it will. Toons are great to fish from. I just love my deep v. Especially when its windy.

I saw a Toon on Eagle Mountain a few weeks ago fly by me with a Inboard Motor. I'd bet he was doing over 50 as I was doing 33 and he charged right on by. He was also pushing 28-30 feet long!

Ray drives like a 4 ton piece of lead with a 50hp yamaha. 2.4 isn't too far off of an exageration. You punch the throttle and the motor laughs at you. When i first got in it, i turned my hat around and Ray laughed at me.
It is a comfortable fish catchin machine though. Just need to leave to the hole in plenty of time.

I was laughing at your haircut lol, not because you actually thought the speed was going to take your hat off. The motor actually was laughing at the shoes. You cant just shove the throttle down, you have to baby the rig lol. Gato Azul here is a Good toon site, http://pontoonstuff.com/forum/All humor aside there is a toon that can be too much. I read a manafacturer was toying around with speed after attaching a third toon to the vessel and alot of horsepower. The boat caught air on a turn and flipped killing the Playcraft plant manager, owner of PlayCraft was on board and lived, neither had a pfd on. http://pontoonstuff.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2753&KW=100+mph+toon

I have had the same expierence on a rental toon with a 40hp, I hammered the throttle and expected something to happen, all I got was a bunch of giggeling from the motor, next thing I hear was the motor saying "YOU WANT WHAT" then it cracked up with chokeing laughter. I decided then My toon would have a bigger motor! I have a spare 150 I have toyed with the idea of putting on mine, If I could reach 25mph I would be happy.

So what speed are you guys with big motors getting on your pontoons? My Particraft gets 19 mph with a crew of 4.
I do not think of pontoons as high performance when you compare the mph gained with a larger motor to the cost of that motor.
Also the question of transom strength comes into play with some brands of pontoons. The Monarch pontoon I previously owned had a weak transom with a 60 hp on it, it was a poor design. I think one of the pluses with the Particraft is that it is built by a 100 year old boat building company with it's own pontoon designs dating to the 50s.
Good discussion topic with great pictures, I think I have picked up a few pointers from you guys.

Mudbelly, I only have a 50hp and I am getting 19 with the new prop, my old prop would take me up to 22 with me and the boy on it. You look at a three year old toon, with a motor bigger than a 75hp, from behind and you will see what too much motor will do to the transom. Most owners have no idea that the swag is even there.
You will make a toon catywampus with too much torque. I have zero problems with my Partikraft toon and no complaints, customers love the comfort level, except from my hitchikers...like Travis from the canyon tackle box. He is always in a big hurry to go catch crappie lol.
Ok, done beating this mule before they move it to the technical section.
