Took my two sons to the Big Sam last weekend. Went swimming and such untill the dam started dumping water. We landed 10 hybrids on 1 oz. spoons and 10 bass also (only one bass legal). 2 hybrids were 10lbs! 4 5lbs, rest small but fun. cleaned everything kept. just one of those 10lb hybrids yield 10 1 1/4in thick chunks of meat for frying. we had the bagged filets on ice and after spending the night there and swimming the next morning we drove home to Carthage tx and ate them fresh. My sons are 12 & 13. they had a frickin blast!

I've fished it too years ago. Caught some hybrids on shad. Saw a kid catch an 18lbs flathead on a white slug go.
Yes you can trust the Government, just ask the Indians.

You fished from the bank below the dam? I've never been below the dam at Sam Rayburn. Is it pretty easy to fish there? thanks.

Yes. They provide you with a huge parking lot right above the water. Just walk straight down there (way down hill but you can just hit the water with a rock from the car) and do it. only good when the damn dam is dumping. Chrome 1 oz spoon out fished others there.
