I plan on moving from east texas to Tawakoni, maybe. Gonna live with a lakeview and a baitwell full of shad! If you had a choice, which is the best lake for both living and hybrid/striper action, Tawakoni? Ray Hubbard? what a life that would be.

I'm in contact with a real eastate agent and getting the financing together for tawakoni. West Tawakoni actually. Plan on doing my striper excursions from a pontoon with the top up and a wireless trolling motor sitting in the shade drinking ice tea (or a beer) while slow moving a pair of rail mounted rods with live shad and circle hooks around the holiday humps. when the the rod bends over i guess i'll have to get up and walk all the way over there and fight the fish in. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.

Well i got three children (ex has custody, for now) so i have to think about overcrouding a boat and having all the things you want to make your day on the water both productive and comfortable. a pontoon is the best bang for the buck. Ice chests (one huge one for fish, one for drinks, ect) 30 gallon shad tank, fishing gear and 4 people need the real estate that only a pontoon can provide. and lets face it our brand of fishing is mainly open water. the only draw back is that 15-19 mph top end. when chasing birds that might get you there a little slower but hitting points and humps with sonar, straight down with shad, trolling, ect.. all can be done easilly with a pontoon with a 24 volt trolling motor. and those rails cryout for rod holders.

The price of a house on Hubbard is going to be about 10 times more than Tawakoni. This might help you make your choice. Less boat traffic and better quality fish on Tawakoni also.

I agree above, I say Tawak. But watch out for West Tawak, alot of bad areas and Meth heads around there. And tha leads to alot of theft.
East Tawak isnt as big... but alot safer and alot nicer people.... I love it here in Eas Tawak.

I thank you all for the info. hey Larry in east tawakoni, appreciate the heads up about w tawak. I have looked at several places around east tawak as well. close ramp access looks to be had with low house prices on the east side. maybe I oughta buy a house boat and just anchor on top of the holiday humps.

I've heard so many incredible hybrid reports by guides for tawakoni and hubbard. they make it sound like they are the top two hybrid/striper/sandies lakes in texas. hubbard for numbers and tawakoni for quality(and numbers). Ther's nothing in freshwater like a 10# hybrid hammering the %#$& out of a slab on retrieve. I feel like i'm wasting my time fishing for anything else. How do ya'll feel about it?

Tawk hands down for fishing. If you buy around W. Tawk keep your stuff locked and out of site. You will definitley see some real characters in that area. Even the cop that pulled me over one time looked like he definitley belonged.

This is why I ask you guys for info. thanks for the replies. I'm leaning toward east Tawakoni now. i guess driving time to dallas area is only 10 min longer from over there. I'm on SS disability but can still get around good on my own. I'm getting help with the financing and hope to get away from here and do what love striper/hybrid/sandy fishing.
