????? I think everyone has done that, it's part of learning. It's what you do after you have found out what it is that matters. It's also totally different than following someone around for the sole purpose of getting their holes. ?????
Maybe not everyone,,Sounds kinda 3 dollar to me.....

I have had some people come in on my partner and I one time. Now I never leave home with out my trustee PAINT BALL GUN! It doesn't kill them but it sure does hurt when they get hit. The red paint seems to put a little scare in them. Just kidding....There seems to be a lack of respect on the waters these days. But I have also been accused of fishing too close to a guy one time so I do try to keep my distance. I think that is just a sign of the times Robb www.snaptaillures.com

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a guide nor am I a tournament fisherman but I find it absolutely hilarious that other people think they own a spot on the lake. I'm not saying it is ok to follow someone around and sit right on top of them but let's be honest here. There are too many boats on that water not to fish where others have fished before you.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with fishing near(by near I mean within eyesight and not right on top of them) someone and then moving in on their hole when they leave. You left. It isn't yours. Whether you found it or not is irrelevant in my opinion.
I'm sure I'll get blasted but I fish for fun and believe that everyone has just as much right to fish a spot as anyone else. I AGREE BIG TIME!!!

Add a "Potlickers" topic to the TFF forum with pictures is my vote. You've never, ever been fishing on a lake and wondered what the heck are those guys fishing out there and looked? Never been back through an area you've seen people catch fish and 'checked' it out? Yeah....

I personally have no issue with someone going back and fishing a spot but I think its past tacky to come up on a guy while he is fishing it and GPS the spot. I think there is such a thing as etiquette and that blows it up in my book. Its public water and no one is complaining about sharing it but rather the complaints are about being crowded and sniped while fishing. EVERYONE has gotten help from someone and no one owns the water but there is a right way and a wrong way to treat others and gain info.

As a kid I remember going out on the lake with my Dad fishing for bass, and one thing he would always tell me was to respect your other fishermen, and that jet skis/skiers/tubers/wake boarders/pleasure boaters, were all the most evil thing in existence on a lake! ( I'm still inclined to agree with him on that ). Personally I've had more headaches with those types then other people fishing, but then again I'm just getting back into the groove of things after many years on the sideline.
It appears to me that many of the things most of us older folks consider normal and polite, don't seem to be taken as serious any longer.
-boat ramp manners -fishing spots/areas -distance from people fishing when running on plane or trimmed up -distance from people fishing when you open the throttle wide open
The list can go on and on, and it amazes me every time I go to any lake. Just this morning I had a guy come up and strike up a conversation with me and a buddy, which I don't mind at all. Some of the best tips and tricks you can learn will be on the water from other fishermen. But after our chat, he started his outboard up, while we were still fishing, then proceeded to open the throttle all the way. Come on! At the least one could idle away to get a little bit of clearance, no need to show off the hole shot you think you have or do have. We've ALL seen fast boats.
And I know every one here has seen that "one", that thinks they need to do everything right there on the boat ramp. While people queue up to load up or put in. Common courtesy seems to have just gone right out the window with people.
With that said, I think blatantly following a person is one of the rudest things you can do. Yeah it's a public lake, but give your fellow fisherman his distance. If you cross paths in the course of fishing an area, you greet each other and move on, unless you want to share info or they do.

Mark this is why I took the wrap off of my boat. People who did not even know me were coming in right on top of me & I just got tired of it. The world is full of rude people I just try not to be one of them.

Get you a jet boat and take them through a stump field, just kidding, someone could get hurt. doesnt have to be a jet! I spend nearly all my time on the water in areas no one wants to go. And honestly if some potlicker followed me and got hurt or damaged his stuff in skinny water or stumps......I would still sleep just fine. Also the "no one owns it" or "That assault" points are valid but like that arsekicking jetskier or Mark P's little crippled buddy in the Ranger people that do that are straight running SOB's and we all know that there is such a thing as crossing the line. Any one can fish where I do just don't whine if I move a brush pile or saw down a tree to make things less easy to get into if you want to fish where I do be ready to work for it.

I usually take pictures of people like this and post them on the internet and shame them by telling everyone what they did wrong!
I did exactly that just a few weeks ago to jerk that got right up on me at Ray Hubbard and completely cut me off at less than 15 feet!
I took a picture of him and his boat and posted on THF along with what he did wrong!

I guess I should have taken the picture of the guy with the TFF sticker on his boat two weeks ago at the Skeeter Owners! LOL!
He played deaf and dumb when he got up next to me...I didn't get mad, I just asked him about his TFF sticker. He saw me catch 27-28lbs and got right on top of me.
You think he's on here reading this?
He was an old man with suspenders, Wrangler jeans with a plumbers crack, an old fishin vest, old fishing hat, and a black pipe....and TFF sticker on the back of a old Skeeter.
Anyone know him? LOL! He was a charactor! I'm still laughing about it! I'm sure someone knows him.....but what is that going to do?

This is the attitude I'm talking about. Those spots aren't your personal fishery. You have no right to ask people not to fish there and certainly have no right to destroy the habitat because you want to throw a tantrum like a 3 year old.
I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

USA1 and Joefishin I never said I own any spot so get that right to start. The second thing again so you get this right I cannot recall ever going to a spot I have seen people catch fish after they left other than if I had or have been fishing that spot before I seen them there. There are alot of public spots I guess really all of them but you should never follow someone just because you ride the short bus and cannot find them on your own ! In tournaments there is a rule that you cannot come with in 25 yards of another competitors boat. Should be like that all the time.I am sure you guys will never understand that either.
