That's a great rainbow. Congrats. I think the comorants are the big problem in Chisolm Park pond. Every time they stocked it the past couple years Ive seen the birds catching them by the dozen and the fishermen getting skunked. The birds just drive them around and eat them all.

Hey Juice54, I started using a down sized carolina rig on my light action spinning rod years ago. Its rigged the same as in bass fishing but I use a smaller swivel and a smaller egg weight. You can use a small treble like SWC suggested or a small trout hook. I use anywhere from an 18 to 24 inch leader. I have found this works really good for stocker trout. If I can figure out how to post photos, I will put up one with my 10 year old daughter and her first trout, an 18 inch rainbow from Beavers Bend caught on this setup with yellow and chartruse powerbait mixed.

Amazing it was still alive. For real. The water temps must have been into the 80's. Nice trout. Should have looked at the date...

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Nice fish. Are they scrappers or what! Lived in Colorado for three years and caught some big ones along with Kokes (Kokanee Salmon). Holy cats, makes a big bass fight seem like sunfishing. And easy filleting!
