BPS Premium Excel, never had a problem with it except trying to break the stuff off when I'm hung up. I only use green, but then again most of our lakes up here in TN/VA are stained.

I used McCoy's for my mono and BPS floro for florocarbon. The line you bought ar walmart was probably either very old been exposed to a lot of heat or light or all of these. Most everything you buy there is low quality for one reason or another.

Hello everyone,
I recently went LMB fishing on Toledo Bend. I decided to put a new brand of line on all of my reels. The brand I choose was P-Line flouraclear. I have heard positive things about this line from some locals in the area I am from.
Well, I broke off 5 different fish on the trip using 15 lbs test, one of them easily being my personal best. So, needless to say, my opinion about the P-Line isn't positive in the least.
What are some reliable mono brands you guys have had the best luck with?
Thanks for the advice! Chad Like most companies, P-line makes some good and some not so good products. I agree that the fluoroclear is terrible line. Poor knot strength was my main problem with it. P-line CX is probably my favorite mono (listed as co polymer). It is thin, strong, and handles well. Their CXX is very strong and abrasion resistant but borders on unusable for me due to its stiffness and memory issues. I did catch my PB on this line though. Another mono I like is Sufix Elite. The only negative is that it stretches a lot. Big Game is great too, although above 15 lb test, it has poor handling (memory and stiffness).
Eating is fundamental
