went to the property this past weekend. Checked to see if I could see any tilapia. here are my observations.
1. just saw a few tilapia on or near the banks on fri. evening. Monday morning saw one.
2. the tilapia were white when I released them. Not sure if they change colors when introduced to pond water. The color made it easy to spot for the first week or two, but I am sure I am not the only one who can easily see the white color. (birds, animals, larger fish)
3. They could be very elusive and swim away before I get the chance to see them. I always notice many small fish scurry away as I approach the pond.
4. The tilapia have grown and moved to deeper water.
5. Under estimated the number of bass in the pond.
6. underestimated the number of tilapia to stock.
7. the lmb are very happy and have grown to 20lbs
8. maybe I should have used the large cage I built just for tilapia. I still have it I guess I will use it next year.

I have removed over 30 small lmb within th last month. Maybe that was nnot enough.

will be out there again in 2 weeks. will report back then. I am not a happy camper right now.

Not to worry. They are there and doing their thing. They are most likely a golden color now and you won't see them except for the mating dances.

Here's what they look like after being in the pond a while. No way you will see this fish in the water, unless it moves water.

thanks meadowlark. That just made my day. I was pretty sure they were going to change color, you just clarified it.

how many did you stock in what size pond? I have two ponds, one with lil lmb dinks that i would like to feed. one pond full of catfish, and have never caught a lmb out of there yet. think there is any lmb in there? feel free to try it out. doesn't matter what you throw, a catfish is going to bite it.

I stocked 750 tilapia. 1-3inches. Probably should have tripled that amount. Maybe next year.
