What do you guys consider when choosing to flip a jig rather than a T-rig?

When you want to catch bigger fish I think of it the other way honestly, what situations dictate me throwing a T-rig other than a Jig. I'm wired a little different though, and I don't fish a jig as much as people think. I ALWAYS think Jig first though.

The letter J is way before the letter T in the alphabet so I throw a Jig way before a Tx.rig.------- Just kidding, but I do love throwing a jig. Normally the size of your catch will improve using the jig. Some days they just don't want the jig so in that case I would spend more time with the Tx. rig. I will usually fish both and see which the fish likes better that day. My favorites to Tx.rig are a Zoom baby brush hog, Lake Fork Tackle 8 and 10 inch worms and Berkley Power baits in 7 and 10 inch. I also Tx. rig Senkos and super flukes weightless.

I guess i should explain a little more, I have always fished jigs some but just really started fishing them alot in the past year, so much to the point that I was starting to wonder when I should fish a t-rig instead

Do you guys fish the jig "naked" or do you hook a Chunk or something on the hook?

well I guess more than anything the cover plays a huge roll in it...I just like a jig, because it is simple, and after every other flip your bait isn't sliding down the hook or the hook becomes exposed. More than anything though it depends on cover..If I am flipping logs or laydowns, I like a jig or a beaver, if the center of bushes, I like a beaver, a jig will get hung up a lot worse...If I am fishing rip rap I give the jig the nod...If I am fishing offshore, a jig, or a big powerworm, but a football jig will come over the brush and rockpiles very efficiently

There really is no cut and dry answer to this question. It's a matter of personal preference. A properly rigged Jig will do anything a T-Rig can do and a properly rigged T-rig can do anything a Jig can do. There are many variables to consider outside the normal rigging box.
The one thing I can think of off hand that a jig will do better is hang in the strike zone due to the bulk and small profile. That can be critical when the bass are suspended in Tree Tops, Grass Mats or Brush Piles. A Wacky worm, Senko or weightless fluke will also fit this application. A light tube jig head and tube bait is right in the middle of this presentation as well.
It's really up to the Fisherman's preference and the Fish as to what presentation they prefer. I'd fish both and let the fish tell you what they want.

I always start out with a jig,but if Im in a spot that I KNOW theres fish, and they wont eat a jig,its time to change profiles...also,if I find a dock with alot of brush on it,and the jig is getting snagged,Ill switch to a rage craw or a beaver...and reeds, reeds and jigs dont get along very well.

sometimes tthey want something a little more subtle than a big bulky jig.... like a texas rig or maybe a finnesse jig with a downsized trailer.
thats what i think. i kinda suck at fishing tho.

I have gotten to where I just rely on my jig much more than anything t-rigged. I do though treat a t-rigged beaver like my jig and pitch it alot.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

and reeds, reeds and jigs dont get along very well. HMMMMMMMM??? My jig seemed to like fishing reeds, especially when you see some move and it wasn't caused by the wind.

Do you guys fish the jig "naked" or do you hook a Chunk or something on the hook? Always use some type of trailer.
