I have seen it posted on the pump on only one brand down here in the Valley, so far: Exxon! So I usually buy my gas (especially for the outboard)from Valero or Shell, and avoid Exxon like the Swine Flu!
Are the stations REQUIRED to post it on the pump?
How do we know for sure??

At this time there is no gov mandate to add ethanol to gas. The driving factor is profit to the oil companies. They can buy the ethonal for about half of what gas cost and by law blend in 10% of it into the gas and then sell the whole lot for the price of gas. Not all areas have ethanol. It depends on the distributer wether or not they have the facilities to handle ethanol. It is best to treat all gas you put into an outboard as if it has ethanol. I lost a 25o HPDI to ethanol last year. Now I treat every tank with Stabil ethanol treatment.

I believe ethanol is required in certain counties. The most populated ones are where it's required. It's part of federal mandate that 9 billion gallons of ethanol be added to gas between Sept 1,2008 and August 31,2009.

That is completely incorrect, sir. Ethanol (oxygenate) is required to be blended in motor fuels sold in Non-Attainment Areas. NA Areas are those that have not attained a level of emissions as MANDATED by the EPA. Think major cities with lots of industry and automobiles. All gas satations in the DFW Metroplex, Harris County, Austin, San Antonio, etc must sell gasoline blended with ethanol.
You can find non-ethanol blends away from the big cities. At Lake Fork, Lake Fork Marina, Star Mart and The Lighthouse all sell ethanol-free motor fuel.

In the DFW area, if you take 377 towards Granbury you'll up upon a Texaco in Cresson near Texas Motorsports Ranch. At last check they still have ethenol free fuel, both normal octane rating and the higher rating the racers buy there. It was a while back but if you need ethenol free and are in the area might be worth a call.

That's why when I go to the lease, I take all my empty gas containers. I stock up on ethanol free gas.
Waiting on Bob Davis' next selfie

If you are coming to fish at Falcon, come with your boat empty and buy your gas in Zapata. I haven't checked in Three Rivers, but it also may be ethanol free. And like I said, the only ethanol sign on a pump I've seen down here in Mcallen, was at an Exxon station. I'm pretty sure the Valero station in Zapata does not contain ethanol. (You can also get good breakfast tacos there.)
