Went out w/ Trent (aka Stripaholic) on Lake Palestine yest w/ wife and 3 & and 5 yr old sons. Afternoon started off slow but ended w/ plenty of action. Finished w/ about 18 big hybrids. Twice had all five rods doubled over in the water at same time which was quite a sight w/ the kids and wife trying to decide which rods to get on. Kept some released most. I know he guides mostly Tawak but if you are looking for a guide on either I can't recommend him enough. He was fantastic w/ the kids. Think he has a couple of pics but when the bite was on it was just too chaotic for photo op.

Thats a great job on LP right now. That guy (stripaholic) makes me so mad, cause he can catch them and I can't.

try down by the dam late evening. I wouldn't launch at the deep end on summer evenings however.

At 7am this morning, they were kicking it up pretty good at the bridge at Stone Chimney, looked like a mix of sandies and hybrids. I just had to wave as I went on to work. First time I have seen them surface there in quite a while.
good luck

Martin, It was truly a pleasure fishing with you and your family. I got a kick out of watching your boys and wife handle the frenzies we got into. With brutal temps Martin had a great idea of us going solo for the first half of the trip then picking up the wife and kids after things started to cool a little. This worked to perfection as we targeted big fish early then looked to find numbers after his family joined us. Our first stop we tried to pull some monsters out of some deep water tree tops. We were unable to raise any there so a move was in order. Our second drop produced immediately as an abu clicker sang my favorite song. Martin was all over it and the fight was on... Shortly after that he countered with another solid swiper... Then another reel started peeling drag. All Martin could do was hold on. This fish made a 40+ yard run straight out staying high in the water column, usually a sign of a big fish. When Martin finally gained the upper hand...the hook pulled loose. The bite fizzled and it was time to pick up the rest of the clan. So we made our way to the lower end of the lake. Shortly after getting 5 rods out, a rod went down, then another, and before we knew it the fire drill was ON! With several fish on at the same time I tried to prioritize who to help. This also gave others a chance to enjoy the hard fighting hybrid striper to the fullest. When the smoke cleared we got to savor the moment... Thanks for your business Martin. It was great to get back on the old home lake.
