My brother & I launched about 7:30am & in less than 10 minutes found surfacing fish. They started out kind of small for the first hour with the occasional good one so we moved around as we had several schools to choose from. That was a good move as we started catching 16-17 sandies on nearly every cast, w/ the occasional medium size one. These fish were gorging on 1-2 shad & several that we brought into the boat had 4-5 shad crammed in their mouth. We fished several schools over next 3 hours & it was non stop action. If we went 2 casts w/out a fish we would use the trolling motor to go to another school. The fish stayed in the same areas & would come up for a few minutes & go down but you could continue to catch them after they went down. I was really surprised by the size of these fish. I knew they have been getting better over the last couple years but I had never caught this many 17 sandies. Easily caught a 100 fish each & kept about 20 big ones for a fry.
All fish caught on chartreuse slabs, white slabs and slab / fly rig. 2 sandies that size on the double rig was FUN! Tried some bigger baits below the schools, like shadboy did last week but no stripers were there or interested.

I don't think that will be anytime soon, John. Lavon gets crowded on the weekends as well. In fact, there were 20+ boats out there fishing these schools of sandbass but most were playing nice & using their trolling motors. Got off the water by 11:30am - too many crazies coming out by that time.
The sandbass are organized, hungry, and in their summer pattern.
