I'm looking to get some rod sleeves to use for transporting my rods in and out of the boat, truck, etc. Anyone have experience with these and could recommend one over another, etc? Just searching on google, I haven't found many and the ones I did find seem kind of pricey at $8 each. Didn't find any on cabelas.com or bps.

Thanks
Nate

I got mine at BPS. Seems like they were on sale for less than $3 each. They make it easy to keep rods and reels seperated.

I have been considering making some. Thought I could buy some bed sheets at a garage sale and sew up some sleeves of my own. I am like you $8 each seems high.

I just got a bunch of the bags that new rods come in after searching the other day for some. I have the same idea with the bedsheets, and gave my Mom the dimensions the other day and she is making me some. If they turn out good, may make a few more to sell. I have a boat with the coffin type storage and of the rods are strung, they get tangled and will break so I took them all out till I find a solution, which the bags will do for now.

bps. I use them. Helps a lot. Doesnt mess with the eyes when transporting them in your rod box. Worth the 3 bucks.

And were you able to find them in the store, or did you have to order on-line (shipping is kind of kills it for a $4 item)

i have them for all my rods, a little trouble to take on and off but worth it. the BPS and Cabelas ones are pretty good. $3-5 i bought some custom ones from Harris Fiberglass in Azle and they are made from a very heavy materal and use velcro to fasten for $10 and they are the best. I carry 10 rods in my box on my boat and it is great to just pull one out anytime and no tangles or nicks in the rods also protects the eyes.

I have gone the long mile on the rods covers. BPS and Cabelas have them for under $4. They work good for a while. What happens is the elastic wears out. Also, if you put lures on your rods when you put them in the rod locker they get caught on the elastic. Not fun getting them unhooked.

Now McCoy fishing line makes some rod shields that fit like a glove on your rod. I know they are 10 bucks a piece but well worth the money. Trust me I had the cheap rod covers and now I got the rod shields. Best investment I made to protect my rods.

Between my son and I, we've bought about 10 of the rod condums. The work pretty good except for when you leave a crank bait tied on, then as typical, the treble hooks always get embedded in the chinese handcuff style weaved material. We bought ours at Bass Strike tackle in Zavalla for about 8 bucks or so each. I did ask him to order some for spinning rods, because they have bigger guides than casting rods and the casting rod condums won't work on spinning rods.
