Heading out from Freeport in a couple of weeks. Looking for Kings and Dorado. We will probably hit the 32's and if the wind cooperates we will go further, hopefully for some tuna action. Any reports on whats out there right now? Thanks for any info.

We went out 50+ mi. yesterday. There were kings everywhere. We didn't find any Dorado though...the weed was very scattered and we didn't find any major rips working.

There were plenty of other big fish caught though...

Cheers,

tp

Thanks Wave. If we can hook some good kings, we will be happy with that. I hope the weedline gets organized though. I want some Mahi Mahi on my dinner plate! food

Well you said Dorado then you changed it to Mahi Mahi!
I am on a mission to get everyone to recognize that when fishing the Gulf, refer to these fish as Dorado.
Salute to wave for the help!

I wish...my little boat would have gotten hammered in the sloppy 2' and 3' seas we ran through. Plus I don't have anywhere near the fuel range needed to run that far.

We were out in a friend's new 25' Wellcraft...

Fished freeport all weekend. You dont have to go to the 32's to find kings. Caught easy four man limits both Sat and Sunday insight of the beach. Sat the wanted drifted sardines but Sunday the only thing they wanted was a trolled ribbonfish. Was a blast watching them skyrocket thru the propwash on a ribbonfish.

In Alabama and Florida we always fished for Dolphin. If you said you caught Dorado or Mahi, folks looked at you funny. It's Dolphin for me. grin

Was no rip to speak of either. Only definative color change I saw was about a mile off the beach. Thought there would be a good one around twenty miles out but no dice on that
