I have a 150 Yamaha on a beautiful Skeeter... I am in AZ and the stumps and Lilly pads thing is non existant... i fish rock, rock and some more rock... I was thinking of selling my boat before i move around Tyler next year because of the twin counter-rotating props... seems like a real issue when it comes to stumps and Lake Fork...So the question is... should I leave my twin prop in AZ and buy new in TX or bring it with me and possibly loose my lower unit on my first day on a strange lake... do you TX guys run these props on Lake Fork Etc... thanks... Cosmic from KNB. Love the boat and the motor...

Ken,
I've been here in Texas since '98 and have not seen a boat with twin counter-rotating props yet. You might want to consider selling the boat there; it might be a challenge here when it comes time to upgrade.

We've got some here around Shreveport. I don't think it will make a difference if you hit a stump with a counter or straight prop set up. It will hurt just as bad to bend that prop shaft.
Would recommend that your boat collision insurance is up to date. The border lakes I fish in East Texas (Caddo and Toledo Bend) Have claimed many rigs.
Good Luck and Welcome back.

Thank you all for the input.... I sure don't want to sell my Skeeter.... and being that it is so smooth and nice I would just as well take my chances and see what happens... if others are running the twin then I guess they are either lucky, smart or all of the above... that lets me out! Hate to sell something for less money than it is worth, then buy something I don't want for more money... boat has been good to me... so I would like to keep her.... thanks guys... Cos>

I would keep the boat. If it causes you a problem then you can sell it. With the internet, you've got just as much of a national audience to buy it whether you sell it from AZ. or E. Texas. Matter of fact, you're more centrally located by being here, so someone east of us might be more willing to go to E. Texas rather than AZ to buy it.

That TRP will sell pretty quick down on the coast. A lot of bay boat owners would love to have it. Maybe not on a skeeter, but if you needed to upgrade motors, I bet you could do a motor swap pretty easy. As Bass Border said - just make sure your insurance is up to date & drive the @#$% out of it.
