I have a 15 Gal Barrell that I made into an extra shad tank. it has a 500gph pump to recirculate the water and I try to keep Ice bottles in it along with some rock salt. What would you Guru's think would be a good average amount of shad that I could keep alive for a day in the tank?

I usually can keep 36 in my Bait well In my SeaPro alive, but in not sure how big it is.

Hard question to answer. Are you using a keep alive system or something to infuse air bubbles into the water or circulating fresh water through the tank? If not, not very many for very long in this heat. I did not have very good luck with the small tanks. You can keep a small number of small sandbass baits, but the big hybrid 5" baits will not do well no matter what you do in a 15 gallon tank. I would recommend a 30 gallon with a 500 gph filtered Keep Alive system. Oxygen is the key. Thown off scales subtract from that equation. I carry a 30 gallon homemade in my Bass Tracker TX 17.

My 2 cents.

Thanks for the recomendation dg! My console livewell is 12 gal so I figured between the 2 of them I could prob keet at least 36 shad alive for a good 5 hours. Enough to get my limit of hybrids anyway.

I have a 40 gl tank - and in this heat - just keep them cool -add ice - I'm not sure - this time year - you can keep them too cool.

I have a modified 43 gallon sunshine tank, I have kept about 75/100 alive for a couple days with a lot of babysitting. Salt, frozen water bottles, shad saver.ETC. Its hard this time of year no matter what.

Modified i mean, i ran an 1/4 air line from the bottom of circulation pump to outside of tank and drawing air in while circulating. Works great
