Open water tactics?

What works for you in open water? I usually throw flukes, but they are short striking it, if they hit it at all. Many fish, just can hook em good. Seem to want baits right under the surface as well. Do you think there are any bigger fish below the surfacing fish? Ive thrown some soft swimbaits with little success. Thanks

I occasionally pick up a drifter with a rattletrap, chrome and any other color.

I like to fish the fluke in open water and if they are short striking it i like to take a 4" f worm in the same color on a 1 ot hook and a little c rig and they will usally eat it

4" senko with a 2/o EWG hook They hit it and the hook pretty much nabs them as soon as they do.
