I know that color does matter alot of times, but when they are super hungry or on nests it usually doesnt matter what color i have on. Winter is usually the time that they start getting choosy with colors for me. Now i do believe that cofidence makes all the difference in the world because one time my dad and i were fishing a dock and i starded catching them on one of my favorite baits. After a few keepers he decided to switch to the same bait. I dont know what it was about that day but by the end of the day i had 22 keepers and he had only caught three or four! I think that every time i caught a keeper and he didnt he would start getting impatient and jigging the bait too much, so maybe you could say that technique is a big factor also.

you can catch them in a tree limb with a hook tied to it if it is the right color and the right presentation
