Has anyone every used a jet diver? I guess its the same principal as the Hell Pet. Don't hate me because I troll. (I know the hell storm this topic starts and i am not up for it) I am new to white bass and am easing into it. I know how to slab and all of that but want to be able to put my kids on fish when all else fails.

Yes...I have trolled also, with a jet diver. The ones I bought at academy have settings for 10', 20', and 30'. We use it at Bardwell dragging our bait across the road humps. 60% of the time, it works everytime.

It does keep the kids busy watching the lines, keeps wife happy cos the wind is blowing, and I am happy cos everyone is leaving me alone....

It is also a good way to find the fish!!!

I use the Jet 30 instead of a Hellbender. Depending on how much line you let out it will run shallow or deep. I've never gotten one to 30'. One difference between the Jet and the Hellbender is the Jet floats and the Hellbender sinks when you stop.

Actually when the fish are scattered or at least not piling up in the usual spots trolling is effective and can be exciting. I like to troll while I have a nice cigar. When the fish are scattered the boats are scattered too and you don't troll through which is the big no no. As far as your question there is no question that the hellpet is known as the top trolling combination. I always have a slab out and a little george too. Mid July and August I move to a pink lady, a hellpet and little george. AM and PM I put out a slab or if there is overcast.

The Hellbenders that I have used dont sink. If you stop, they float right up.

I use the 30' jet diver and with 100' f line it is supposed to go down 30'. It is pretty close. I have rods and reels for trolling with built in line counters. I watch the depth and adjust line out to meat the depth where i am seeing fish. If you go to LUHR JENSENS website and get the instructions it show a 3 way swivel above the jetdiver. you can tie 2 petspoons on and it catches doubles almost all the time. I just bought 4 50' so I can have them run on 2 poles in the middle of the boat while trolling and not interfere with the 2 in the back. Most of the time I only run 2 poles. You have more options to troll with with the jetdiver, they can take a rattle trap down or a spinner.

Jet Divers with a pet spoon or a Rat-L-Trap will get the job done. Just make sure your leader is longer when the water is clear!

If you are using the Jet Divers take a look at my release for them. I have an add in the classified or take a look at

http://www.kingfishercharters.net/release2.html

You can now fight your fish without the drag of the Jet.

I am a Charter Captain on Lake Erie in Michigan and we use the Jets for walleye here.
