I have one burrowing under my above ground pool. I was thinking about putting a few drops of gas in there hoping he would back out. Thought if it worked for snakes it would work on these critters. Any other ideas?

If you can keep the hole filled with water for a few hours (usually) he'll come out on his own and just grab him, when i was a kid we used to put the water hose next to the hole and just let it trickle enough to keep the hole full and they'd come out the hole and we'd put em in a bucket for bait.

I though about the bacon. I have caught them that way in ditches and such but never out of the ground. This hole is not vertical so the bacon may not work. I am going to try the water thing. Hopefully I can catch him. He will make a tasty little morsel for my dog.

It is just proof that the eco system in your yard is in good shape.

Go on, and put a gold star next to your name, in the "Politically Correct " column.

And if you have a teenage daughter with a PC attitude, well, she should despise you a little less..... not enough that you could tell though. Teens are rough !

Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

Be careful with the fire ant stuff around the mudbug hole, if a pinch of it accidently falls in the hole, no more mudbug. s

If I'm not fishing or hunting I'm hunting a place to fish or hunt.

I did not think of poison but this mudbug is not in a good place and needs to go.

I sprayed some starting fluid down there and never saw him. I put the sand he had pushed out back in the hole and packed it down. This morning saw no evidence that he is still with us.
