Wife and I went for a kayak paddle this evening on Lake Ray Hubbard and encountered over 40 LARGE very dead carp. Any idea whats killing them

Maybe they were late spawners. Hot, hot, hot temps in shallow water would lead to very low oxygen levels, would be tough on any late wave spawners.

They weren't just near shore but out in the open water areas also. Only the very large fish seem to have been affected and only carp

Could also be KHV, I believe it's called, a virus that effects the gills of carp.

caught a few sandies late yesterday off the rock jetty and saw a very nice high teen carp floating so we went up to it and i rolled it over just to check and no holes......?

I just got off the lake and did not see any dead Carp at all!

However I did see a ton of huge Buffalo dead and dying all over the lake! Most of them 15+ pounds!

What ever it is it seems to only be affecting Buffalo and only the big ones!
