Returned to work from vacation this morning and saw the email below. I'm not sure if it happened the weekend before last or shortly after. I personally do not know Jeff Powers, but he is a fellow Airman here at NAS JRB Fort Worth. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

301 FW Warriors,
I have some tough news and I wanted you all to be aware. TSgt Jeff Powers one of our Crew Chiefs in the AMXS, and just back from Iraq, was involved in a boating accident. He was swimming and an, allegedly, drunk jet skier hit him (no fault of his own). He was life flighted to the local hospital in Tyler TX. He is in Intensive Care and in a coma with a tracheotomy tube installed. Leslie, his Wife, is by his side and is a nurse so they are giving her more access than normalvery tough.

Here is what we are doing:
His family is out here now and by his side.
Weve sent a liaison up to Tyler to be with the family for anything they need, Militarily or otherwise.
Our chaplains are on board to help where needed.
We will engage with Family support and Fleet Family Support to help the family if his hospital stay will be prolonged.
Please keep Jeff and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Please know, whenever any of our Airmen or families are hurt or in distress we will help in any way we can, no matter what status they may be in.

A sad irony that a warrior such as TSgt Powers can lay his life on the line for all of us over in Iraq, make it home, and then be placed in such a sad state by an idiot on a jet ski. My prayers are with he and his family. Hang tough TSgt Powers.

I hate jet skis and the stupid morons who ride them.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
