I know I'm not supposed to be worried about the cell phone when I'm on the lake but right now I have sprint for my cell service and it sucks. I'm going to be changing in August and wanted to see who got the best coverage up in East Texas. I am thinking about ATT or Verizon. I know they have good coverage in Houston, just want to get what will work up at either one of these lakes the best. Thanks in advance.

+1 There's nothing wrong with being worried about cell phone service on lakes like these. Never know when that phone may save your life.

i agree also...switched from t-mobil to att this year and have had zero issues...used to when i got into lufkin my service started acting up and was like that untill i got on rayburn...still only worked in certain spots....one spot i lost bars this weekend was on 255 thru that long stretch of woods right before the dam...that only lasted about 30 secs or so...zero issues any where else

GO with AT&T..They have a tower right by cypress bend resort on Toledo Bend. Don't know much about Rayburn but At&T gets pretty good coverage in rural areas..Sprint doesnt have coverage in that area..I'm buying a house on Toledo and had too call them about this issue. Girlfriend has At&T and works pretty good. If your on the roads it will fade in and out due too tree coverage but on the lake should be pretty good.

None really works in our area, if you find the right spot, you can get some coverage. I have AT&T, their is no G-3 network coverage in the Lufkin to Sam Rayburn area, You'll get part coverage at best. Even the USACE phones don't work in most area's.
I've had most all the cell companies at one time or another, and still can't get coverage at our place in the Black Forest ...
Their is a new Pay as you go, company that Dollar Stores are carring, a few people say it works really good here, so I plan to try one of them. No Sure what the name of it is yet.

Verizon works there for me. Not all phones are going to work no mattre who you have but Verizon is the best I found so far. My partner had Sprint at one time now he has Verizon b/c I could always get out and he could not.

I was at toledo in May. The folks with ATT had service just about everywhere. Those without (I had Verizon) did not.

AT&T + 100, have not been on either lake without service that I've noticed. I do alot of travel with work in the states and I have had the best signal with them by far. JMO

I live in the area and am out on the National Forest along both TB and Rayburn (Sabine/Angelina) often and I have ATT and have pretty good coverage both on and off the lake in the area.

I had Sprint and got no reception. During that time, I purchased an AT&T GO phone. You buy minutes for this phone. I have recently switched my regular cell service to Verizon. Don't get Verizon on the Texas side of Toledo; however, get it on the Pendleton Bridge and into Louisiana. The Go phone works good on the lake.
