Think I posted this once before, but here goes...
Several years ago I was fishing a club tourney on Whitney. I had a pretty good limit in the livewell and was just packing up to head across the lake to the weigh-in when two wardens in a boat pulled up with their blue lights on. I told them I was fishing a tournament and had about 5 minutes to make the weigh-in. I said I sure don't mind if you check me, but would you please do it at the ramp across the lake? They waved me on and said "good luck." I made it to the weigh-in with about 3 minutes to spare.

My ex nieghbor was a game warden. He was nice enough but he had the total red you know what at the department because he said he was assigned to the local sherrifs office for meth/drug raids more than anything else. I think he said even tho the county bordered rayburn he had done more drug raids than checking hunters/fisherman in 2 years. He went out and had to pay for his own bullet proof vest. His wife was trying to talk him into quiting even tho he was senior man in the county.
Game Wardens doing drug raids ?? Yup happens all the time. He has stated many times it has become nearly his full time job. I don't know if that's the law that GW's must assist the sheriff in the county they are in or just policy if the sheriff's office request it. Picture in the paper every week with everyone wearing a vest (Sherrif's office, Game Warden etc..) with whatever they found.

I have run into one out on Canyon Lake several times this year. He was talking about fishing for catfish up in the river. Don't know is name, but he is a tall guy running around in a Majek boat with a T top. The other day he was talking about how he was dealing with alot of under age drinking and marijuana out at the lake. Seems like a nice enough guy....

I work for Dallas PD 27 years ago they had body armor then . My uncle was a state trooper as they like to be called now he had one but never wore it. I had always heard of some one else hearing of a GW doing a drug raid but never talk with any one that saw a GW doing the raid.

My buddy and I were duck hunting here in Nueces Bay and just got in for the evening with our limit of redheads and a GW pulled up to check everything. My buddy didn't have his Hunters Ed but we sat there and BS'd with him for the better part of an hour talking about duck hunting spots and he told us of a monster gator that we could go after with the new regulations for hunting them. After about an hour or so he we had to head out so he gave my buddy his ticket, told him how he could get it dismissed and headed out. Turned out he had "over looked" the lack of migratory bird stamp so i would say the guy was awesome.

Most GW I have mey have been very nice. There is one that patrols and East Texas lake that can be a jerk. My buddy and I were fishing a tournament on this lake. We had just put in and it was a very clear day, sorta cool, but clear a a bell. We wer making our way down the lake and our foreheads were beginning to get really cold, so we stopped to warm up in the sun. We saw this boat from a long distance coming at us with blue lights flashing. Didn't think about it very much till he pulled up next to us and asked why we didn't have running lights. My partner said we didn't think we needed them since we could see a very long way off and the sun was up. He told us that it wasn't official sun-up till 7:30 a.m. and it was about 6:50 a.m. at that time. He checked license, life jackets and everything else then he wrote my buddy up for no lights. Broad daylight where you could see for miles. Not only that he checked us three other times that same day. Like some have said, you have your good ones and then there is that "ONE". Ticket was $85.00

I like yall have never had a bad experience with a GW. But my guess is that its because we go out of our way to make sure we do things by the book. Most of the people u here that dont like them are the ones sneaking around doing stuff you are not supposed to do or trying to hide something. I was stoped last week at lake murval and had a really good time talking to him. ended up taking him fishing later that day. It was a good experience and i hope to always be friends with him. he is a good guy as most are. just my $.02

I've mostly experienced the ones on Ft Hood. You hardly see them during fishing season, but during deer season, if you are in a blind and they know where it is, when you see them coming you might as well get ready to pack up and leave...They DRIVE right up to the blind, slam doors get loud, and MOST, but not ALL of them are all around A HOLES. The same fat one checked me 3 times in the same stand in 1 day...I was legal the 1st time.

There are a few grumpy ones up on Texoma. I have had good experiences with the ones I have dealt with, but I try to be within the law. Bob Sandlin has had some grumpy ones.

Criss D, Think about this. During hunting season it would be SAFER for them to make their presence known to you while you are in the deer stand. I would not walk around all quiet and nimbly like a deer when there are a bunch of "A-HOLES" hunting that area. Yeah, I said it, there are a bunch of IDIOTS that hunt on Ft. Hood.

Plus, on Ft. Hood they will make sure that you are staying in your deer stand. It use to be that you had to stay inside, dont know about now.
