So if the tournament director and others are so horrible for not changing the rules, then why do they have a courtesy check at the skeeter owners tournament on Fork. It is uncalled for to try and sneak up on a small tournament and bust someone for trying to make sure they are legal. Things like this are what give GW a bad name. Just read the post about Wardens at Fork. If they continue to act in these manners, more people will stay off the lake and less GW will be needed. But I am glad that my tax dollars are going to stop those harden criminals and I think they should be hung for keeping a fish an 1/8 of an inch over. If that fish were to have died, my grandkids would not have gotten to catch him. Trust me the problem today is that not enough people are keeping fish. Look at Falcon and AMistad. The Mexicans are netting them daily and they are the best fisheries in the state, if not the world. But some of you are right the law is thw law and you can throw common sense out the window. A game warden in his uniform and in a patrol car could have came and talked with the group about the courtesy check and I am sure that everyone would abid by what he said. Instead someone got their feelings hurt and lost a tournament and snitched on the tournament director. Lndyee I have heard great things about what you are doing there at Roberts. I am just sad that I do not still live there to fish them. But crude like this is why I moved back to East Texas. GW here have alot more to worry about than us fishermen. Try stopping poachers around Rayburn and see what happens. Good luck with the Wed tournaments and hope you guys can get those horrible, awful, low lifes that were using a courtesy check.

I know you did not have problem with me, I dont mind the GW wish there was more patroling the lake during the week instead of weekends, Just wish they would have something identifing themselves like the other tornys i have participated in. And I wish they would show up for every way in at all tornys on this lake.

mudbug that is kinda what i was trying to say but everyone took it the wrong way about the uniforms. And agree with you I have not kept a fish out of this lake in 14 years. The 2 i have mounted are both replicas and fish were released. The law is the law if you have too many fish or an illegal fish then its your fault not the torny director or other fisherman.

I was glad to see the "gamewardens" out last night. I enjoy talkingt to them and am personel friends with a few of them locally and down south. A few of them have even taught me some thing about the outdoors.
Here is what I do not agree with.
Their is no need to have an attiude like taht guy did. We are a group of adults being spoken too by another adult. Their was no reason for him to "down talk" us. I feel like their is many ways to gain RESPECT and get your point accross besides acting rude. Some of them wonder why they get a bad rap. It only take ones rotten egg to spoil the whole dozen.

I think coming in regular clothes was an effective way for them to accuretly inforce the rules. I jsut with the guy had taken a little different approach with his tone of voice about the situation.

Has anyone seen it written anywhere that it is illegal for 2 anglers to have 6 bass in the boat during a tournament on Lake Ray Roberts? Show me the law!
As far as the Man who fished alone and had 6 fish he got a ticket. I am still unclear on the other ticket. (illegal fish?)
I have not done anything illegal and resent your implication that I have.
The first thing on our rules list states "ALL LAKE LAWS APPLY"
If it is a law that in a tournament on Lake Ray Roberts and 2 fishernen in a boat can not have 6 Bass and can not ask for a courtesy board I want to see where it is written.
I changed the rules because the Game Warden asked me to to clarify the rules not because of you.
Start your own tournament and put up with this BS.

Baylor, They were just doing their job and wrote two tickets. One I did not see and one I did not.
There is only two people on here trashing me with their comments but they have yet to provide me with written material that I have done the first thing illegal.
Watch out Buddy you will be next!!

I am not sure what you are talking about here. We weigh in in Kilograms to avoid ties and I post here in pounds and ounces. I would be happy to email you any and all of my paperwork upon request. Have you bothered to actually read the rules? Ask Questions??
Or are you just so intent on slamming me that you do not care?

No Lyndee not at all...It just means that whatever you say whether it is right or wrong , you still get the last say in things because you are tourny director ....you were wrong and I was right....ban me if you'd like to because I was right and you cannot admit you made a mistake and live with it....that would show great sportsmanship....would be great piblic relations and show how you are for a democracy!... That would sure welcome new people into the tourny.....Lyndee.....dont get mad...get smart and recognize when people are making sugestions on how to help you to start out with instead of taking it so personal and as a trashing.......just a suggestion.

And also Lyndee...I happen to like you and think you work very hard at what you do.....I just think there are some things we could help you with...especially leagl matters and interpretations of laws....be open minded for gawd sakes....I mean this sincerely....no trashing or meaness involved....we can work through this if you have an open mind.....your call...up to you!

Someone needs to let these other illegally ran tournaments know the law. Or better yet have a GW sneak up on them and teach them a lesson. I have been fishing tournaments for over 15 years and most have all had a courtesy check. Reason being that everyone wanted to release a illegal fish and wanted to abid by the rules. Next time a GW does this. Tell them that the fish are your pet fish and you were taking them out for a swim. After putting them in the water, look at the GW and say "what fish" smile

"Beating a dead horse" I say shoot those and the HORSE they road in on who THINK they are so much smarter than others. I also love it when someone says to keep an open mind. (Meaning as long as you agree with me we can work this out) To gloat about being right and being happy that someone got a ticket is in my opinion "poor sportsmanship" and if I were the director they would be disqualified and not allowed to fish in the future.

Here is a list of some of those horribly run tournaments:

CHRISTIAN ANGLERS BASS ASSOCIATION OPEN TEAM TOURNAMENTS
12. SHORT FISH: A team will be penalized 1 lb. per short fish and the short fish will not be weighed. Fish will be measured on an official C.A.B.A. Golden Rule measuring board with mouth closed and tail compressed. An official C.A.B.A. courtesy Golden Rule measuring board will be available for contestants to check fish prior to entering the weigh-in line.

2009 Texas B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Northeast Region
Tournament Trail Rules

11. Scoring : Tournament Standings, auxiliary awards and final winners shall be determined on a points system. Only Largemouth, Spotted, Red Eye, or Smallmouth bass will be weighed. At no time shall a competitor have in his possession more than 5 fish, unless contestant is actively culling. Each contestant may weigh in 5 fish with a minimum of 14" length measured on a flat board with mouth closed and tail compressed. Short fish brought to weight-in will be penalized at the rate of 1 lb. from total stringer and loss of that short fish for each short fish presented. An official courtesy board will be provided for each contestant's use prior to entry to weigh-in line.

Century Bass Club
A courtesy board will be available to check fish prior to delivery to the weigh master.

ARLINGTON BASS CLUB

Please make sure if you have a fish that is questionable for weigh-in you ask one of the tournament directors for the courtesy board. Then take it to your boat to measure the fish because when you get in line it is too late. There is a 1-pound penalty and the fish does not get weighed if it is not legal. So please measure them carefully.

2009 Official Rules for the North Central Texas Region of the BFN Tournament TrailsGator Grip Golden Rule will be the official tournament measuring board). For
each legal, dead bass, presented to weigh-in officials, the competitor shall be
penalized the following, to be deducted from their daily score: 1 dead fish .25lb, 2
dead fish .75lb, 3 dead fish 1.50lb, 4 dead fish 2.50lb, 5 dead fish 3.75lb. Bass
presented at weigh-in that fall short of the official length shall accrue a penalty of
that anglers big fish for the day. (Courtesy check is allowed).

ATX Bassmasters Tournament Rules
13) Scoring: The winner of a tournament will receive 100 points. The scoring will decrease in one-point increments for each participant who weights in fish. Tournament participants who do not weigh fish will all receive five points less than the last participant who weighed fish. The member's club meeting attendance of 5 points per meeting attended will be added to the yearly standings calculation. Each contestant should identify his/her largest fish for consideration in Big Bass competition. Each contestant may weigh-in a 5 fish limit with a minimum length in compliance with state regulations. Courtesy check is allowed if request is made before submission of creel for weigh-in. Gator Grip Golden Rule is club's official rule.

All-American Anglers of Killeen Texas
16. The TD is responsible for the weighing and measuring of all fish. All fish must be 14 (within State Set Length) long when measured on a CLUB FLAT BAORD. CHECK-IT STIK. Board will be placed on a horizontal surface and fish will be measured BY THE STATE STANDARD. If any fish is short of 14 or State set length, it will be disqualified and a penalty of sixteen (16) points will be taken away. A courtesy flat board will be available to check fish. Fish must be checked at the boat and prior to entering the weigh-in line. Any short fish brought to the scales shall be cause for disqualification for that member.

I know that there are many, many more, but these are just a few that came up quickly on my search.

Lndyee-Good luck with the tournament. My brother-in-law just bought a boat and plans to start fishing your tournament. I will buy him a check-it stick for his birthday so he will not have to break the law and use a courtesy check. smile
