Well bass-assassin and I set out on or trip around 4pm on Friday from 16.

Things were going well until the storm started rolling in with lightning and high winds. Wind and rain doesn't bother me, but when electricity gets thrown in the mix, I begin to worry.

We pulled or yak on shore and got out the water and watched as waves began to white cap against the current. The clouds looked as if they were moving in opposite directions. That got me a little anxious.

With our late start and having to wait out the storm for some 45 min. we didn't get camp set up until dark. (Always fun setting up camp in the dark) We found a bit of fire wood and were able to get a fire going and cook some Earl Campbell's for dinner since we were unable to catch any keepers for dinner. The next morning we got off to a nice start and continued catching some nice bass throughout the day. We were able to come up with enough keepers for a nice fish fry that night. However, with the crowd on the river we had a hard time finding a good camp spot until almost dark since we fish late until the evening. As soon as we found a camp spot that would work, we began to set up a camp and heard wild hogs just a 100 yards away or so. We got the fish cleaned and fried up and began to turn in for the night when the winds picked up and I had to get in my tent just to keep it from blowing away. At one point during the night bass-assassin woke up to a coon trying to get in the tent with him. The coon scratched two holes in the side of it. We got up on Sunday morning and began to catch fish again.

It was just a short time until I caught my personal best smallie.

Later in the day bass-assassin happened upon a little honey hole where he pulled eight bass and one perch out of a spot no bigger than a 55 gallon drum. All and all a great trip. Looking forward to the next one.

Nice report Mojo and a damn good smallie!!! I was hoping to catch a smallmouth on our trip but couldn't find them - is that the only one you caught?

Nice Report.

Just think of the stories, had that coon got in my tent. I would add my pics, but you know. You left that part out about my spilling my yak over a $.50 worm and it costing me a couple hundred dollar camera.

Can't wait to do it all again, maybe next time we can get the attendance up.

Yes Jake, that was the only smallie on the trip. I caught it in some swift current on a Zoom fluke.

Bass-assassin, I didn't want to add insult to injury or mention the fact that you dropped my metal stringer in the water a little bit later. Oops!

Enjoyed the report and pictures. Nice fish. I always take a pack or two of them Earl Campbells on my trips.

Nice brown bass. I've yet to get one there yet. My buddy and I were out there last week and had the same experience...right down to the coon! We were freaking out when all the lightning and wind rolled up because I forgot the poles to the tent. We had to fashion a tent skeleton out of two oars and one pole. When the wind started, we thought we were done for and started thinking about hiding under the canoe or trolling back up to where that cave is if it started hailing or blowing us away (it never rained.) When it died down and we drifted asleep (about 3 in the morning,) I woke up to a bandit coon staring me right in the face. He was literally 1 inch from my face. I screamed like a little girl and he ran off. We both caught several good ones on Sunday morning. My buddy caught a lmb that was 8ish lbs. No camera.

Nice pics guys.
Sounds like the weekend was full of adventure.
BA - dont worry too much about the camera. At least you got your virgin tump out of the way. Smooth sailing from here on out.

MOJO- Nice brownie.
Let get another one in the works. My boat is getting dehydrated!!
