Some friends and I hit Tawakoni last Sunday and had a blast. We landed 17 bass from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. None of them were more than 3 pounds but it was tons of fun. I must say that that lake is very high. We had to duck to get under the 751 bridge into Duck Cove. Barely cleared the console. The water is very warm at 84-87 degrees in the coves. Caught most on watermelon candy lizards under docks (the ones we could flip under) and and around docks.

My friend caught something that snapped his 50# braid and rod like a twig. We were fishing off a point when he said he was hung up. I turned the boat to troll over and see if we could get him unhooked. When i turned the boat we noticed that his line was about 50 feet from where he originally thought he was hung up. Stopped the boat and ran over to help him. Whatever he caught was pulling line off his reel hard. What ever he caught didn't even flinch when we pulled back on the rod. After abut a minute he puled too hard and snapped his rod and about 30 seconds later his line snapped. We think it was either a huge catfish or a gator. Anyone have any idea what it could have been????

Could have been a huge catfish or a huge snapping turtle. I would bet on the turtle.

took my wife & a friend of mine fishing at Choke this past Sunday. We were fishing in a cove and my friend was throwina a Rat-L-Trap when he tells me he's hung up. So I turn the trolling motor towards his line. We get about 30' or so from his line and all of a sudden his line is free??? He reels his line in and his Rat-L=Trap was bit in half lol....... I'm thinkin gator not hung up..... I bet your buddy snagged him a gator since it did not really respond when he was really trying to turn him. Or possibly a big cat like you were sayin.

Where did the line break, close to the hook? Could have been a big gator gar! I have caught some really big catfish and have been able to move them pretty well. Nothing like not knowing what it was. I know he was sick.

We were west of the 751 bridge in the Kitsee Inlet. We were all sick not knowing what it was. It was hard to say where the line broke b/c he had so much of it out, but I would say it was closer to the lure.

Actually Brad, the lake is just below full pool. We just aren't used to seeing it that high.
Our lake house is around the cowner from where you were fishing...I've never seen a gator, but that doesn't meen there isn't one there. Maybe a big gar. That end of the lake is not known for the huge cats like the saouth end.

you can pull a gator all the way to the boat, but ounce they get to the boat then they run, sounds like a catfish to me
