Had my license plate stolen off my boat trailer last week and have been trying to find a place in the metroplex that carries them and can't find one anywhere. Anyone have any ideas of where I can get one? I would prefer to get a metal one so the thieves cant just rip it off like the did my plastic one.

Thanks

God Bless,
Stephen

9 times ou of 10 those plastic brackets brake and someone thinks there tag was stolen. Mine broke off of my last two trailers. I used bailing wire this time to put mine back on, no more problems.

You guys might be right but I have checked it numerous times and never saw any sign of it tearing.

Here is an online resource to purchase a bracket.

http://shop.easternmarine.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.catalog&categoryID=211

You might call Fun N Sun or other dealers in your area to see if they have them.

Other possible sources:
Walmart or AutoZone

you also might try some small angle brackets attached to the trailer and the plate

I use large SS washers between the plate and SS bolt head then jbweld the nut and bolt loose enough that the plate flops a bit. There really isn't anything to get enough leverage to rip the plate off and the jbweld makes someone else's plate less effort.

Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

Bass Pro Shops has a metal bracket. I got one because my plastic one kept breaking and I kep losing license plates. It runs about $8-9.

Stephen, what are you thinking. I can make you one. We just need to take a look at what you have and come up with a design. That should be a snap after designing a Transducer protector.

I used 2 small stainless hinges to replace the plastic bracket on mine. They are very secure and keep the plate from getting bent up by allowing it to move forward or backwards but it stays down to be seen even at highway speeds.

I have lost two plates before because the plastic bracket breaks. I cut the side wall off an old tire ( two small strips about an inch to an inch and a half wide). Bolted it on with lock nuts on the bolts ( use 2 flat washers to secure rubber strips to trailer and plate) Have not lost a plate in over 5 years.

Sorry forgot to mention- Make two small holes at the ends of the tire strips big enough to run the bolt though.
