Actually went fishing Monday. Almost forgot what it was like. Looking for stripers. Bite was a little slow to stat. Caught a couple small stripers and a black bass. 15" or so. Trolling with Silver/Blue Hot Lips Express. White and Fire Tiger Bombers at 15-20 ft around the hump at the dam. Moved further up the lake due to 30mph winds and trolled the river channel. Bite was pretty nice action there. Caught 2 more stripers, a hybrid, 5 LMB and a fishing story. I have doubled up on fish before. Whites and small LMB feeding and caught two on one lure (one on front hook and one on back) but never like this. Thinking i have a nice Striper this is what i see when it gets to the boat. This is the first from the front hook. This is from the back hook. I figured 3.5# on the bigger and 2.5-3# on the smaller. I didn't have a scale. All fish caught were released to be caught again another day.

You lucky SOB! That is just crazy! I have seen it a few times but those are pretty good size fish to be two at a time.
I was wondering if anyone has been catching bass on cranks. I have tossed them to unavail.
Send me a PM on that hump you talked about by the dam??
I have noticed my fish are moving deeper. How deep do they get at Canyon? Clear water is throwing me off some!
Land was created to provide a place for boats to visit!! It is when pirates count their booty that they become mere thieves. ARRRRRR....

17lbs and change to win out there today. That is amazing.
10lbs was 2nd. What is also amazing to me is that we caught no less than 45 fish today, and only one of them was a keeper. How do you do that? Our only keeper was right at 6lbs but still, with as little pressure this lake gets why is there so many dang 13 to 13 1/2 inch fish? We caught 'em all over the lake from 3ft to 50 ft (the ones we caught at 50 ft had been down there a while, they were so white they looked like white bass) They were nailing the drop shot and I bet if I had 2 hooks on there we would have caught 90 fish. We threw our normal jigs and even those caught small fish. We threw DD22's all over the place and still caught small fish (we also caught catfish and white bass on 'em. nice catfish to boot. They were both 5+lbs)
Anyhow, 17lbs is a nice sack. At least someone got them figured out today. Congrats to the winners, tough fishing out there today...at least for some.

those are the fish the TPWD put in there in 2008. Give em one more year and look at what you have??
I say canyon should be popping in a year and then its on buddy!!
I am finding my spots and I will be counting the cash when I start winning some tourneys out there.
two thing the lake needs is water and bait fish. Bait fish is needed more right now to get these fish bigger faster. I have not seen a single bait ball any where. All I have seen is bream getting just slammed on top. I want to see shad running and then that lake will really pop!!
Correct me if I am wrong... have any of you seen any shad?
p.s.->Travis post the results of that tourney so I know what I got to do for the next one cause its on my man!!

Only Had 11 teams which definitely made me learn my lesson. Next years will be the weekend before Fathers day. But none the less it was fun.
1st Place - 17.0lbs Phillip and Avery Walker - $1000 2nd - 10.10lbs Charles Whited and Jeffrey Peels - $500 3rd - 8.50lbs Saul and Jamie (forgot last names... oops)-$250 Big Bass - 6.0lbs Phillip Walker - $120
Total of 24 weighed for 48.35lbs
Fish Fry was great. I was very happy with the turnout. In fact, if had many more, we would have run out of fish.
Gotta go through my camera and get the pics and will post them soon as i can.

The fish fry was awesome. Tons of great food and cold beer! It was great to meet Travis and Ray.
