Hello all, Two fellow firefighters and I have been kicking around the idea of hiring a guide for texoma. They're 40 and 50 and I'm 30, so I'm designated to locate the right man for the job. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I have a 21 footer with a 200 HP, and hummingbird with GPS. But I know little (nothing) of Texoma. I fish Hubbard, Tawak, and Bridgeport. I wouldn't even know where to put in at. Should I hire a guide for us? Or scroll around the lake and fish where I think they should be? How difficult is fishing Texoma? Thanks for reading and any replies.

Thanks, I looked up JD Lyle, is $400 about what I should expect for a Texoma guide for 3 people?

Hey ceverett, where do you work? Ive been with Richardson FD for 9 years now. Do you have a way of keeping shad alive? Texoma can be a little overwhelming at first, but its pretty much the same. Find the bait, find the fish. You can put in at Highport marina, they have real good ramps. Its a nice place. If you launch before daylight, throw a castnet under the lighted docks and marinas. Also check the sixoldgeezers.com website. Its strictly Texoma talk. Our FD association sponsors a week long trip the 3rd week of may every year and we absolutely slaughered them this year. Check north of the islands area (islands are just to the right as you come out of highport), mouth of little mineral, tabletop area (tabletop is just north of little mineral and it kind of looks like a tabletop on your gps map), soldier creek, mac creek. Use your contour map, you'll be able to figure it out if you fish t-wak. You may have to burn some gas, though. As for a guide, I've never used one there. But if you try to go it alone, i'll pm you my number and try to give you some more pointers.

Thank you all for the info. Between running calls and going to get ice cream for the older guys I've been trying to keep up with this. Another fireman here lives at Texoma and recommended Charley Stringer but he's booked for a while. I'll probably call Jd tomorrow and see when he's available.

If you can't get I booked a trip a couple of years ago with Earl Cox at C & H striper guide service, very nice fellow put us on the fish, and was very good with my parents, they were 86 & 91 at the time!!!
