Hey guys. Well, I've pretty much done everything but this, but now I have access to my friends boat slip on lake lewisville and am wanting to set some set lines along it. It is in real deep water and we confirmed that some big cats cruise underneath the pontoons at night, but I have been having trouble thinking of something I can tie to the metal that won't get snapped right off by a big flattie. Would bungee cord word as a shock absorber...?

I am sure it would but tie a length of rope longer just in case if bust lose. At the Army and Navy stores they sell a metal spring loaded spool and when trip it sets the hook thats what I use.

We use the black rubber tie-down straps for our set lines. Just remove the S hooks and tie it somewhere on your rig....works good.

Get some old car tires and cut them making giant rubber bands about 2 inches wide. I used these for years with throw lines tied to rocks on the Rio Grande. They work great and most tire stores will give you their old tubes.
