While playing golf yesterday it hit me, a flagstick might just make a pretty good stake out pole. So today I talked to the greens keeper and asked if they had an old flag stick I could have. I got two. Took the flags off and ground the tip down. I think it will work nicely. I will let you now if this is a good idea or not. I have a trip down the Brazos scheduled this weekend, weather permitting.

I don't play golf so I don't know how strong those poles are. They seem a little on the skinny side to me. My stake out pole is almost the diameter of my scupper holes of my kayak. I guess as long as they keep your kayak from floating away, they can be any size you like. Hope they work out for ya!

Just got a chance to test out the stake out pole I made a while back. This has to be my best idea in quite a while. I ran my stake out pole through my trolley system that has a one inch o-ring. The top of the poles end will not fit through the o-ring which save me from floating off of it. Light and worked awesome. Just had to give the update I promised a while back of thumbs up or thumbs down. Definitely two thumbs up!

Is it a better idea than the time you decided to shave your balding head while your wife was out of town?

I have to back up what Mojo says. He hooked me up with one of these stake out poles and I can't think of anything that could work much better. If he had not got me one then several times this weekend the wind would have beat me.

That was me. Where did we cross paths, what were you in?

You were staked out fishing some shallows - I was in a yellow Tarpon and my dad was with me in a camoed over budweiser Old Town canoe. I asked you how you were doing as I went by. Your friend was asking about you when we passed him - I guess you went one way and he went the other where the river split?

That was exactly what happened.
