After posting for help 2x this week I got no help from TFF'ers which is rare. I'm planning a 640mi trip pulling my boat to fish Freeport jetties to 5mi out. (1.) I need some info on beach driving on the surfside city and county areas concerining how conditions are for pulling my 18'cc w/ 2wheel drive truck????? (2.) Are conditions ok entering county access or is it better to drive across the city beach into the county beach area???
I pulled my same rig their pre-Katrina but don't have any ideas how it has changed since major storms have come thru I looked up ph#'s for surfside area on the outdated i-net. But the #'s aren't any good since Ike tore thru. Please help TFF'ers !!!

I have been up and down Bluewater Hwy and it is OK, Just opened the Hwy. so you don't have to drive on the beach. If you are going to fish the Jetties and offshore then you really don't need to go down that Hwy.
All the roda that I have been down are OK

Seaswirl I'm from the Flower Mound area and I'm down here at Surfside right now. I talked to a cop and he said you can drive and park on the beach anytime in surfside. He sold me a annual pass to drive on the beach for $10. I have been driving up and down the beach since Friday and have had no problems in my 2WD. Obviously just stay out of the soft areas and you will be fine. We came down to primarily surf fish for shark and it has been so rough we have not been able to take our baits out as far as we would like to. The beaches are packed on the weekends but today (monday) we have the beach pretty much all to ourselfs. I did not notice any post Ike damage as far as the beaches go. I want to do some bay fishing but have no idea where to go. If anyone can help me out with that I would appreciate it. I have some numbers to local bait shops that I can get you if you need them. Also, If you have other questions you can call me at 214-641-7642. I will not have my phone on me but I check my voicemails at night and can call you back. Thanks, Mike

I was on Surfside at the free entry section this weekend and the beach is in good shape. The only launch I noticed that was open was at San Luis pass. The croaker were biting along the surf with shrimp.

Thanks for the info Magic Mike, I'll be down there at the end of June, it would be nice to have the truck with us. Didnt know you could drive on the beach.
Good luck with the fish and let us know how you finish out your trip.
