Got a friend headed there in a couple weeks and trying to see if someone might not mind a little info as he has never been there before.

Thanks

Watch BASS on ESPN next week and get all the information you need. FLW is there right now so they will also have info on their website about what you need to be doing.

I fish the lake from Kentucky Dam to Pickwick Dam. Does he want to fish grass or does he want to fish ledges?

Fished a Stren there a few years ago.If he's gonna fish deep ledges then its big crankbaits,10 inch worms and Flutter Spoons. If he's gonna go shallow then flipping tubes and jigs is the way to go.

Deep or shallow, either way he just wants to catch some. Thanks for the help.

Tell your friend to fish the areas that are 10-15 miles south of the Hwy 79 bridge at Paris Landing. On the map you will see Hurricane Creek, Cane Creek and White Oak Creek. Fish the main lake on both sides of the old river channel. This area is where good hard hydrilla is growing. Look for hard bottom areas in the grass. These hard areas will be mussel shell beds.

Launching the boat at Birdsong Marina would put your friend right in the middle of the hottest fishing on the lake. Leaving the bay at Birdsong and turn left and you will be headed toward Paris Landing. Turn right and you will be headed toward the New Johnsonville area. All of this part of lake has hydrilla and milfoil.

I'd recommend 1/2 oz or 3/4 oz green pumpkin football jigs with rage craw, paca craw or chigger craw trailers. Deep cranks in chart/blue or lavender shad. 10"-14" texas rig worm in plum, plum apple, redbug or bama bug. Rig the worm with a 3/8 oz weight if the current is minimal and a 1/2 oz weight if the current is ripping.

If he fishes the shallow bars w/ grass the Lucky Craft BDS 4 in chart shad and the RC 3.5 in copper perch or white shad has been hot.

I always keep a 3/4 oz blue glimmer, white or chart/white spinnerbait handy. Slow roll this around the grass and shell beds.

If your friend is fishing farther north the patterns will be slightly different. The difference will primarily be an issue of depth. North you fish deeper and South you fish shallower.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

Here is some photos of lures that some of the Elites used last week. It may give your friend some more ideas of what to use.
