What are some good vacation lakes between austin and dallas.

Its a group of 10 guys and all we want to do is fish for 3 days. We want a place that is bass friendly and doesnt have 1000 jet fleas all over it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Fayette county is about an hour and a half east of Austin...How's that? I don't think I've ever seen a flea on it.

Limestone is good, but ya might want to bring a tent or your own camper. Too much timber for most "fleas"

With Inks and LBJ just down river and Guadelupe bass on the Llano river just to the west a great area to fish.

Lake Bridgeport. We're staying here in a week.

great cabins, and you can slay the crappie right off their dock.

Best Kept Secret in Texas! 45,000 acres of quiet water on Weekdays, but a bit tough for the largemouth guys. Loaded with Whites, Catfish, Crappie and a fair Hybrid and Largemouth population. Check out the Fisherman's Point Marina link on our website at www.gonefishin.biz

Thanks guys, great stuff so far.

Heres the deal. We were planning on staying at Lake LBJ the week before the 4th of july. SUN, Mon, Tues and Weds. But I have been hearing bad things about this lake as far as Jet Skis Wakeboarders and bad fishing. Anybody had experiance with this lake, we will be staying on the river somewhere.

I've not looked at a calendar to see when the 4th falls, but if you're going before the 4th, you may be ok.

My cousin and her husband own a lake house out there. We visited them one 4th and the water was rough. I was told it was do to the fact that everyone that owns a house out there was there that weekend. Apparently alot of folks from out side the state own the lake houses, which is good for the other weekends. No one around, but they luv to visit for the 4th, which is why I said you may be ok.

As for the fishing, on another forum, pm me if you want it, it gets fair to good reports for bass.

I would check out Inks lake, one lake up the chain from LBJ. Inks Lake State Park has canoe rentals and the park has it's own little cove so there are no jet ski's or boats running in that area. Head to the other side of the cove and there is great fishing all through there.

There is also a fishery just south of Inks SP and if you drive the gravel road past the stock ponds you will be along the River and you will only see some fishing boats running through there.

Hopedale, PM Sent.

Thanks Wisco, that is where we were originally going to stay but we had som issues with the lodging. If we do end up staying at LBJ we may go up to inks or buchanan to check it out one day.
