I was wanting to get a new crankin reel. I do not fish very deep but love to fish cranks on points and near the bank. The depths I fish is 0 to 15 feet. The two reels I have in mind is the Bass Pro Shops David Fritts Signature Series Baitcast Reels, or Quantum Energy PT Baitcast Reel. I have hurd good things abou the David Fritts reels, but have three Energy and love them. All so what gear ratio should I get for the depths I fish.

5.1 ratio and for the reels stick with what you already have.

Forget the rest and get a Revo. Hands down the best cranking reel out there. No sponsor plug, just a guy that's been throwing a DD22 for hours. There is no comparison between these and other reels I've used.

You can't go wrong with a Revo, but if your budget won't go that far, try a BPS Rick Clunn reel with a 5.4:1 gear ratio. Awesome reel for the money.

Its also not all about the ratio as mush as the inch per turn.

Find an old 5000 or 5000C '70's era reel. 3.8:1 will get them down deep and won't wear you out. No joke!

Somewhere around 19 for deep divers.

A shimano Calais 200 APV makes life easy throwing deep cranks. My second choice would be a Revo Winch.
