If you go after about the 18th or so you might be able to hook up on Blackfin Tuna and Shark.
Shrimping season starts back up on July 15th, and the last party boat I went out on hooked up with a shrimp boat offshore and we hooked Blackfin tuna all for hours straight

Capt John. Not a fan of the Buccaneer myself. Had great fun on Capt John.

I've only been out on one of the Party boats out of Galveston before, that was the Buccaneer. Go to my blog below and look under Galleries for July 6, 2007 and you will see pictures of our catch. Not too impressive.
I've always went to Port Aransas for the Party Boats. If you look at 4-1-2009's catch you will see the most recent trip to Port Aransas. When I go out on the Party Boats I ALWAYS go out with Deap Sea Headquarters.
I like the weekday trips more, less people, and less of a chance of some fool bringing his own gear onboard and ruining the trip for you by forcing you to sit back and watching him fight some 20 pound fish for an hour on too light of gear.
Ever weekend trip I have taken has had some fool ruin my fishing while he runs around the boat with some pole lined w/ 20# test line trying to land a fish that ends up too small to gaff and gets his line cut anyway....

When shrimping season starts, do the party boats alter their normal routes and try to stay with the shrimp boats?

I went to the source, and called Captain John's. Spoke with a nice lady. I asked if there was anything significant, in the way fishing operations were conducted, about the start of shrimping season. She indicated she had no knowledge of how shrimp season affected the way fishing was done.
