I was wanting to get a new crankin reel. I do not fish very deep but love to fish cranks on points and near the bank. The depths I fish is 0 to 15 feet. The two reels I have in mind is the Bass Pro Shops David Fritts Signature Series Baitcast Reels, or Quantum Energy PT Baitcast Reel. I have hurd good things abou the David Fritts reels, but have three Energy and love them. All so what gear ratio should I get for the depths I fish.

If you will be throwing big, deep cranks I highly recommend the Davis Fritts reel. I have the 4.7:1 gear ratio and throwing a big bruiser like a Series 5 or DD-22 isn't any harder than throwing a Bandit 200.
It happened to the best of them: John 21:3

the 2009 Energy PT is absolutely sweet, I LOVE my 6.3:1 (5:1 is not available for a leftie like me so I've not tried that one).

Curado 200E5 rocks! I had Chronarch's on my crank rods, sold them off 'cause I'm a tackle ho', and then decided I wanted 'em back about the time they went away. I've got a pair of E5's now and I really think they're as good as the Chronarchs for alot less $$.

Abu Garcia C 3 4600. It has a 5.1:2 gear ratio and can be had at Academy for $69.00. It pulls the big Hot Lips with no effort at all.
