How is the ramp at the state park? I tried to launch my 23.5' cc last year but was unable to...almost fell off the ramp. Usually fish RC but thinking about camping at Fairfield over the 4th.

The lake is 4 foot low, but you can launch
carefully at the 2nd ramp..

I found out its real un-even. Lanching is ok but loading is hard. With my bass boat it took me 4 trys to get boat even on the trailer. When I would back down one tire would be under water and the other one would be in 6 inches of water. It makes for a fun end of the day. I just ended up getting in the water and holding my boat while my wife drove the truck. I had to hold it and walk it out or it would come out bad to one side or the other.

I had to back down center of ramp to load/unload my 21ft center console. No problems when doing that.

The good news is they were pumping Trinity water in last Saturday.

Tha bad news is the holidays will have a long line at this single access lane ramp.

Keep moving the trailer over until you get the tires to drop in evenly. Make sure the driver notes a reference field mark, (pavement or distance from the plastic pole) as you unload and adjusts the loadup backdown to get the tires in more evenly the first time. Try to get somebody to stand as a target for where the most visible fender should pass.

While waiting in line it also helps if the driver watches the backdown of boats ahead of you to get the best first shot at hitting the hole.

PS For the bigger boats the best place to pick people up is around the bend in the creek to the left, where the reeds come to the waters edge.

Thanks, fellas. All advice is much appreciated. Is there only one ramp at the State Park? I have only been there once.

Only one working ramp right now. The one nearest the gate is unusable at this lake level, lake is too shallow to even approach that ramp from the lake side with most boat drafts. (Johns and shallow drafts will still work)

Follow the park road all the way to the end. The ramp is two lanes wide, unfortunately the hole is near the center. Some like a shallow water ramp, if so, use the outside left as you look down the ramp.

By July 4 the drop off could be steep, if you have a heavy boat pulling the trailer wheels back up the hole rim has already been a problem for some. If you have a 4WD choice you would be wise to bring it. Short on cash? Who knows there could be money in it for you if you have tow strap or chain.

You might be better off booking Jackie Kennedy for a day and let him beat his boat up instead. You will learn a lot and save wear and tear on you rig. Give him a call and check conditions.

not to mention you will beat the fish up with him. I persoanlly have seen people in the area of jackie not catching [censored], and he is steady pulling them in.
