Looking for informed opinions. Would my 70hp Yamaha perform better with a hydrofoil? I see lots of Dol-Fin's, Sting Ray's etc. and I hear they help with "hole-shot". It just seems like my Stratos is a bit slow to get up on plane.

Got 1 on my 115, I think it helps. Used to have a little jon boat with a 7.5. Front end would point to the sky until I put 1 on it. Well worth the money !

if you dont need it to control porposing dont run it doesnt do a thing for speed just hole shot, iv seen them on stern heavy boats snap the cavitation plate off

Usually a band aid that masks a poor setup.

Took mine off and gain some speed. Its alittle looser coming of plane, but overall better performing.

Mine does loose a little top end (3+/- mph). But it stabilizes the ride on my little boat, allows me to stay on plane at lower speeds, and helps get on plane faster. Mine is the SE400. Had a Dolphin on it, but it got broke on a stump, so I tried the SE400. I liked the Dolphin better for top end, but the SE works better for all else. And 3mph ain't gonna catch me more fish, so I'll stick with what I got.

Here's the skinny. A doel fin, stingray,(whatever they want to call the thick plastic fin) does as advertised. {AS YOU MOVE THRU THE WATER IT PRODUCES LIFT LIKE THAT OF WINGS ON AN AIRPLANE} What they do not tell you is that you will loose 10% of your top in speed, you will increase fuel consumption, and on a high proformance boat, it can cause high speed steering problems, it will flex causeing stress on the cavitation plate which may make the cavitation plate to crack or break. It will allow you to stay on plane at a slower speed however and in some applications like pulling a knee board at 18mph it will help. When compaired to the Whale tail (TM) the whale tail is a 3/16" thick aluminum plate that bolts to the underside of the cavitation plate and basically increases the surface area of the cavitation plate. It does not flex, it does not pull on the cavitation plate but instead lifts, loss of top end speed is unnoticable, steering is actually improved. To me it is an absolute necessity on a tunnel hull flats boat. I have sold the Whaletail for 20 years with a money back guarantee. I have never needed to do a refund. Just for fun we would install a Stingray on a boat for the customer, and predrill the whaletail to match the same holes. After a test run at the lake, EVERY customer chunked the Stingray.....

Thanx. That's the "skinny" I needed. You said you sell the whale-tail. PM sent.

Took mine off and gain some speed. Its alittle looser coming of plane, but overall better performing. thats exactly what happened to me. took it off, got better holeshot and a little quicker on the top end. never gonna use one again.

I run a 16'6" Boat and it is almost unuseable without a Hydrofoil! I ran 58mph on GPS with no problems. When the motor is trimmed up snd you are running full throttle the hydofoil is out of the water creating no drag. I use and have used the SE200 and SE300 and I was very happy with both.

2 Thessalonians 1:6-10 In these verses, there are dire consequences for NOT obeying the gospel. What the world claims as "saved" isn't gonna cut it! Learn what it is, in an eye opening true story, "Muscle and a Shovel", by Michael Shank.
