Went to east matagorda on saturday, ended up doing decent. The water was murky in parts due to the east wind. The key of course was locating the flats and cuts with bait in them. Lure of choice was a plum/cht bass assassin. I didnt smoke them but did alright. Saw a couple of dead trout floating while out there as well, one was a real pig, not bloated up and it weighed 8.62 oz on my digital scale. Biggest trout was 24.5" and the red was bout the same. Lost a really nice trout at the net, it was 25"+ for sure. Anyways all in all it was a good day to be out on the water.

It was all wading. trout were caught in 3.5-4 ft of water on edge of the grassline where it meets the sand and the red was in a cut bout 2 ft deep. hope that helps, best of luck!

I fished last sunday and did not have much luck. I fished the grass flats on the south shore line across the bay from the second cut. Saw a lot of sheephead on the shoreline. Some black drum as well. Saw very few reds. Could not even get that one Lone Ranger Red on the flats to blow up my topwater. Tough day.

All of these fish were on the south shoreline as well, forgot to mention that. Saw a couple of groups of reds tailing during the day but they never would hit anything, too busy chasing the mullet looked like.

east matty is usually a hit and miss bay for me. sometimes ill go out there and tear them up then the next day not catch a single fish. the point is that you just have to fish a lot..!!!

i love to fish but catching is soooo much better!!
