I'm heading up to Amarillo next week to see my father, and I'm taking the boat along. I haven't been in your neck of the woods for a long while. Any help on lake selection would be greatly appreciated (I was thinking either Greenbelt or Meredith.) I'd also take any recon you can pass along. You can PM me if you would like. Thanks in advance.

GB and Merideth are both extremely low. You can still catch fish in them though. Any chance you are willing to drive 90 miles into New Mexico instead of 60 miles to GB? If so, I'd recomend going to Ute Lake in Logan.

Ute was tough this weekend...well maybe not for Panhandle, but it was for us. greenbelt has been friendly to me lately, id head that way. but the lake is very low, gotta be careful around the island.

I'm more familiar with the Panhandle lakes. I grew up on them as a kid. I must say that they look a lot different these days. (I didn't know that lakes could get in excess of 70 feet low.)

I have never been over to Ute Lake and would not know where to begin.

imnowhere...I'm doing the same thing...traveling from abilene and taking Dad out to greenbelt...It has grass in the lake and some stumps as well...what I don't know, is how tricky it is to launch at the ramp at the dam...last year when I launched it was in 3 ft. of water...

basshappy, it sounds like you were still launching from the main ramp last year. Be sure and ask where the usable ramp is when you get your permits. It's to the West of that ramp.

Chad, Ute was tough, but there was a 40 mph wind that didnt help things! but day in and day out, I'd take it over Greenbelt, but that's just me.

I wish we'd have met. I was there too! We had a good sack Sunday for the conditions being dealt.

The conditions realy sucked, we got hit by some kind of down draft on main lake. wind hit us about 75 mph the waves jumped to about 5 or 6 foot. every time I tryed to get on plane a wave picked me up then rolled out the back and would blow my motor out.we got very wet finaly got out of the main blow coming down the river got on plane and got out of there then it stopped. scared

There was some wicked gusts. We never had anything like that, but it was plenty windy. We spent most of the day fishing exposed to it. Long Day!

Sounds like we will be heading to Greenbelt. We'll be in a silver and blue Ranger. If you see us, stop by and say "Hi".

Thanks again for everyone's input.
