I have recently put my boat into a covered boat storage facility with electricty. I want to keep my batteries charged while I am not using the boat. It can be up to 3 - 4 weeks at times before a I use the boat. I don't want to have the batteries charging all the time while it is being stored. What can I do to keep the batteries charged without having to go to the storage place a day or two before I take out the boat?
TIA

They have timers that you can have it come on for so long each day if you don't want to just leave it on. What type and model charger is it?

It is Guest 3- bank charger, but don't know the model number. I was thinking about the timer for a couple of hours per day.

I would call guest and ask them if that unit is ok to leave plugged in all the time. If not then ask them how much time aday would be best. Good luck

We use the timer from walmart on our battery charger. Been doing this for years. Works great.

I keep my on-board chargers (2-MinnKota's) plugged in and connected all the time.
But be sure and check your water levels regularly(if your battery has water).

I have a dual pro and leave in plugged in all the time. What happens when it reaches a full charge it will then maintain the battery. There are cheap timers you can buy but I just leave mine plugged in. whatever works best for you.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'm going to go with the timer and see how it works.

If it is an on board charger, go to walmart and buy a timer. Make sure the cover is up on the motor comp.

TIA Get yourself a pool timer from Lowes or Home Depot. Wire it with a male end of a good heavy duty extension chord on the input side, a female end on the output side, and put a couple of those little timer screws on it for however long you want the timer to be on and then automatically cut off. On the first day home from a trip, I let mine stay on for about 8-10 hours, which is more than enough time to charge all 3 of my batteries, then the timer is set for 2 hours every night, just to keep the batteries warm.
