I have a skeeter zx180 with a mercury 175 efi (96 the last year for mercury on a skeeter). I have a tempest 23p prop and Im hitting my rev limiter at 58mph. I know for sure it has more speed in it, but I dont know what pitch to go to. 24 or 25?

Motor is at stock height with no jackplate. revs at 58mph are 5700 rpm which is my rev limiter. Thanks for the advice. I think I can have the tempest bent up to + 2 degrees. Would a jackplate give me any real world advantage?

you need to get the r's under control, test a 24 pitch sounds like theres a lot of slipage here, then check r's and then go from there, talk to steve he might have one you can try and as i said you can cup yours its like adding a inch of pitch should drop 300 rpm's , do you blow out when in a hard turn at full throttle

Yeah I blow out when in a hard turn. What would cause this slippaing? I have a small wobble in my propshaft.

you bet id try cupping the prop ,5600 is max rpm's if you can then maintain 5500 to 5600 after cupping you should gain a little speed if rpm's still remain to high you can pitch the prop up, as far as the propshaft i think it can be as muck as 5000's out any more and your gonna have seal problems, talk to steve and see what he says

if you can maintain 5600 with a 25 p you can probably get another 5 mph out of you rig but thats about it call steve he can re pitch your prop and add cupping if he thinks it needs it or he may have one you can test, as i said you got to get the r's under control ,then you can proceed in getting the set up right

you could send me your tempest.

sst props can be changed 1 degree in pitch, and i can work other areas of the prop for top end speed, and reduce rpms.

custom tuning is 225.00

cheaper to work your prop then buying a new one.
