What do you folks think are the best baits for use with a Texas rig? I regularly use a 5 inch senko, LFT Lizard, Baby Brush Hog and the Trick Worm. Am I on the right track?

I catch more fish on a green 7 inch powerbait worm then any soft plastic in my entire tackle box. By far my favorite Texas Rig. All 5 of my big bass this year came from that bait. It looks plain compared to a brushhog but it produces so well I cant get away from it.

In winter/cold water, I like a straight-tailed worm, like a trick worm or zoom finesse worm. In late spring and summer/warm water, I like a worm that has a tail that wiggles. I like lizards in the spring, especially on a Carolina rig, but by this time of year they don't seem to produce as well, so I put them away until next spring. This is not to say any of these worm-types won't catch fish all year long, they will. But trying to use what works best for each season, this is what I do. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys. Sounds like I'm not too far off base. I'll get some Berkley Powerbaits 7 inch worms.

Dang, 5 for worms!! I might have to start using them more. I dont like how worm tails wrap around bushes and branches in general. So I usually throw brush hogs with tail removed and paca craws.

I don't throw a texas rig much but for me it is simple....white, green pumpkin, and black neon tubes...A few different colored beavers, and a blue fleck worm...That is it
