I have a Lowrance 520 on the bow, a Lowrance X17 on the console and a Humminbird 997 on the side of the console. And believe me, that combination did not happen by 'happenstance'. I use my 997 for nothing but sidescanning. Finally, I now have a choice.

I sure hope you are right! I can't wait to sell my 997 for practically nothing and then pay 3 grand to replace it...Not...I can find brushpiles and structure just fine...

Sabot you forgot to tell they they are using Humminbird patened tech to build these units.
Sabot when will a real unit be availabe to try?
WERE ARE THE UNIT? NOT JUST VIDIEOS!
One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

BirdDog, what is the difference in the HDS 5 and HDS 10 other than the obvious cost? Also, can you verify the SI add on for $250? I couldn't find it on Cabellas website nor could I find even the HDS at Bass Pro website. Can't understand the vast difference in price on the 10 vs the 5!!!

The 2 d sonar on humminbird can be just as good as Lowrance you just have to update the software when one comes out and learn the unit my suggestion is go ahead with Lowrance and be the computer specialist that it requires to run the unit humminbird is pretty user friendly I am wondering how much it will cost to get the structure scan since it is a add on to the HD units what about the guys that already have one will they have to buy a transducer at another charge? 4 years of experience that humminbird has in the si industry might be a deciding factor for you
