Took a coworker and his son fishing today. Tried a few spots before heading out to Deadman's. Wind and waves were bigger than expected. Trolling motor wouldn't keep up and anchor wouldn't bite so we tried to make for a safer area to fish. We didn't make it. My bilge pump couldn't keep up with the waves I was taking over my bow and my boat was swamped within a few minutes. Lucky for us, TexPat and another TFFer who I forget his name came to our rescue. Last I saw my boat it was swamped and barely adrift and heading back toward Deadman's.
Thank God nobody was hurt and we were rescued.

It was a bit rough out there this morning. Wind was blow'n 20 and waves were 2-3. Weather guesser said 5-10 out of the SSW .. I took several over the bow myself. Boat is now clean. Sorry about your boat - we saw a few boats at Deadman's, must have been after we drove by. On the water @ 7:30 off by 9:00.. I bet the T-wok tourny was fun!

Just got back from the lake. The game warden found my boat and had it towed to Eagle Point Marina. Glad it's foam filled, that was the only thing keeping it from sinking totally. All my gear was intact and everything was still operational. My outboard never went under and it fired right up. Luckily I have a $50 deductible on my insurance and they are going to reimburse me the difference. The tow boat operator said he had to tow it to a calm cove and pump water for a good while before he could try to tow it back.
Thanks for all the well wishes guys. This one turned out good.

Invest in Auto/Manual Inflatable PFD (LIFE JACKETS and wear them) - most folks put them on and forget they are wearing them - THEY KEEP THEM ON). See http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...&id=0038078Always use your kill switch - and if you might think it's to rough for your craft - DO NOT GO OUT THERE - use you head - its the best weapon you have against drowning.
