Wow,

What a great day out with Allen on Lake Grapevine...actually, it was semi-miraculous. I sure hate to brag, but Allen made a suggestion that I believe kept two kids breathing and on this great earth today.

We were wrapping up the day and heading in and Allen said, "hey, lets make one more stop by the island and I will show you another good place to fish". So, I diverted the ol' Kenner towards the island. He showed me one more great spot to fish (after showing me many today) and we looked up and saw two heads barely afloat and arms reaching up (struggling). We made a bee-line to them and came upon two teenage boys laboring and had a panicked look on their face. We pulled them into the boat and they had a tremendous look of relief and thanked us for coming along. The two were trying to swim back from the island to mainland and were only wearing blue jeans (which was weighing them down). We took them to the closest boat ramp and dropped them off. They thanked us a couple of times and off we went. If it wasn't for Allen, those two could be "swimming with the fishes" right now. WTG brotha!

Earlier in the day, we got into some real good Sandy Schools on the humps and caught around 148. We would have caught alot more, but Allen wanted to show me some of the good spots to fish. I learned a tremendous amount from Allen and we sure had a good talk. Here are some pics of some of our fish:

I would like to thank Allen for a fantastic day on the water, some great conversation, the teaching, and keeping those two kids alive. It doesn't get much better than that!

Rex

Great job guys. Do you think they learned anything from this?

We had some "Steroid" ridden Sandies on for sure. Allen had an "Arnold Schwarzanegger" fish on...that thing was huge! Looked like he ate 3 of his own, pumped some iron, and was juicing.

Did he have a big lump on his forehead like Barry Bonds and Hulk Hogan too?

I usually get the big sandies with the big ones and the little ones with the little ones.

was a GREAT day!!! Rex gets all the credit for saving those boys. He's real intune w/ whats around him. Guess that war training comes in handy on the Homeland also thumb.
Rex is a great guy so if you see the white Kenner with the blue canopy be sure and give him a hollar. cheers. Thanks again for the lift, maybe we can do it again real soon!!!! Just don't out fish me ALL the time. Give an old man a break woot.

Jason,

The Kenner is doing great...and it is racking up some fish! The best catch it ever made though (with me) was the 2 boys yesterday.

I appreciate you selling me such a great boat and taking time to answer my many questions afterward.

Hope life is treating you well. Enjoy your summer!

Rex

"...The two were trying to swim back from the island to mainland and were only wearing blue jeans (which was weighing them down)..."

The main problem with folks from the Shiffer Islands is they generally have Shiffer brains....
